Guest guest
I just wanted to share this with someone, since my family seems to have too much concern for my eating habbits, as they say. I took my 20 month old to the Dr. yesterday to see if I could get some vitamins for her. Also because she has been going through a stage that she doesn't want to eat much of anything, and I was a bit concerned. Anyhow, I was so pleased with my military Dr, or all Drs. He expressed excitement that we were transitioning to veganism, from vegetarian. He had me make up a list of all the meals, drinks and snacks I offered my child, and said that he was very pleased that she had such a healthy diet. He recommended, that because I used powder, or made some of my own milk, to give her just a vitamin B12 vitamin. I just couldn't believe that the dr. was so supportive of our choice. You hear horror stories of being lectured at the Dr. for being vegan. While I hadn't ever run into problems, we were going to a new Dr. yesterday, and I had no idea what to expect! I just had to tell someone, you know, it was just bubbling inside of me, and I was read to pop!! My mom, just said, " I doubt he was that impressed, it isn't good for your baby! The B12 doesn't even need to be given every day. You might want to offer the Dr. resources for other patients that want to make the vegan choice. Guest guest
Yeah for you! What a good mother you are! I too have experienced some of that " not so helpful " advice from others regarding nutrition. It's a wonderful thing to have someone recognize you doing the right thing, especially a doctor, wish they were all like that! I read what you wrote and got a big warm fuzzy! My son just turned 13 months, has been vegan since day 1 and has never been sick a day. Keep up the good work! Smiles for miles!
