Guest guest
This is a hybrid of a couple of different recipes. It really helped me kick my cravings for the real thing. In a small bowl combine the following: One half cup Original Recipe Veganaise (or your favorite vegan mayo) One teas. lemon juice One TBL. soy sauce One half teas. kelp powder (don't skip this, it makes all the difference! easily found at health food stores) In a larger bowl combine: One TBL. finely chopped (preferably, sweet) onion A quarter of a green bell pepper, finely chopped (or similar quantity of celery if you prefer) One TBL. sweet pickle relish One can ( 14.5 - 16 oz.) rinsed chick peas (garbanzo beans), well mashed with potato masher Add contents of smaller bowl to larger bowl and mix. Serve on whole wheat bread with lettuce and tomato. Cut diagonally into two triangle shaped sandwiches (tastes better this way ) Makes about 6 (before cutting) sandwiches. Also tasty on crackers! - progressive7862<allens717 < > Tuesday, August 03, 2004 6:55 PM Meal Ideas I would love that recipe for " chickpea tuna " . Been looking for one for a while. Guest guest
A variation to this recipe is to leave out the kelp and add nutritional yeast. It tastes more like chicken salad. My 7 yo loves it. Carol Neil Calissendorff <neilnshelley wrote: This is a hybrid of a couple of different recipes. It really helped me kick my cravings for the real thing. Guest guest
This is from the Vegetarian Times REDUX section kicked up a notch!. We have been making it for years. It is wonderful as a spread or with veggies and even tortilla chips. Enjoy. 1 LB Frozen, thawed then pressed tofu, 1/2 C of favorite Salad dressing, Mayo , OR soy spread 2tbs Tamari 1 tbs Balsamic Vinegar (or 1 tbs Lemon) tsp dried basil (opt) 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder (opt) 1 stalk diced celery 2 Tbs Chopped red onion or white onion 1 TBS of Kelp flakes (very important) Prepare as you would prepare tuna salad. It really is great - somtimes I will even catch my 14 yr old having it with crackers! Jodi de Vries <jodi.de.vries wrote: Thanks so much for this!!!!!!!!!
