Oh, i think it's ok - I'd forgotten about it, but I had it a few times and it was not that bad. I would certainly take it over a Big Mac without meat, which is a small salad with weird (to me) dressing. What's in that " special sauce " anyway? Guest guest
The veggie burger is cooked on the same grill as the meat tho .. when I ate it for the first (and last) time, it tasted just like the burgers! YUCK. I asked them if it was cooked on a seperate grill, they said 'no'. I just laughed. But I guess not everyone that gets the veggie burger has to be a veg. Guest guest
They are supposed to microwave them not grill them. If you ask for it to be grilled they cook it on the same grill. The veggie burgers they used when I was in England were really good! In the US the ones that carry veggie burgers (not all do) are not as good a quality as the ones they had in the UK.. Honestly it was more the wilted lettuce and tomato that turned me off to the US whopper. I was so excited to have the BK whopper I had had in the UK in the US - And I was really let down. Plus you have to explicitly tell them that you don't eat mayo. Guest guest
It's supposed to be cooked separately from the meat products. At least that's what they've told PETA they would do. They also told PETA (or at least this is what PETA said when BK first started selling the veggie burgers) that if requested, they would microwave the burgers instead of grilling them. Each time I've tried that, I've met with a testy manager who refused to microwave the veggie burger. That's why I've never tried them. I was in a different city last night and thought I'd give it a try. The cooks said they are cooked on the same grill away from the meat and the oil is different. When I tried to ask more - like are they close enough to allow the juice from the meat go on the veggie burger or is the area where they are cooked dedicated to veggie burgers alone, they were clueless. If I have to go through that much to find out if I am getting a vegan product, it isn't worth it and it probably isn't going to be vegan. Guest guest
This problem has been solved. You can request that the burger be microwaved only and not placed on the grill. BK corporate has ok'd this so if your location doesn't do it for you then get the store number and address and you can report it. It is taking a while for all the stores to get this.. but recently the couple of locations near me are finally cooperating with this. Also word of warning: aparently they are not " teaching " everyone how to prepare it this way so you may get some overcooked burgers untill they get it right. At one that location I went to, the manager said I was lucky she was there as nobody else in the store knew how to prepare it that way... duh... (I thought) if you are the manager why don't you " teach " those working now so they will know in the future...but I guess that's fuzzy logic. Guest guest
Just ask the staff to please cook the veg burger in the microwave. BK HQ says they are supposed to that for customers who don't want to share the meat grill.
