Guest guest
Hi, I have 2 boys 5 and 7. They do eat salad and drink enriched soy milk. Do I need to give them extra vitamins? Should I be adding oils to our diet? (and which kind if I should?) Thank You. Tammy
Guest guest
I give my girls flax seed oil, an essential fatty acid. I mix it in with their smoothies so they don't know the difference. I also give them a multi-vitamin just to make sure they are getting everything they need. One of my daughters has ADHD so I give her magnesium, zinc, b-6, vit c, taurine (an amino acid) in addition to the other things. Also I found milled flax seed at the health food store. I mix it in with stuff any time I bake......muffins, cookies, breads, etc. Hope this helps. Kelly challengegirltammy <challengegirltammy wrote: Hi, I have 2 boys 5 and 7. Guest guest
Tammy, I have been supplementing my son's diet for several yrs. now. He's now 9 and vegan since birth. He gets a multivitamin, digestive enzymes, vit. C in all seasons except summer, his Omega supplement is: Total EFA from Health from the Sun. It has Omega 3,6,and 9. I also give him greens in powder form. I know it sounds like a lot, he does very well. I would say the Omegas and the multi are the most important to start. If you can find a liquid multi, that gets into the body the quickest. Peace, Laura challengegirltammy writes: Hi, I have 2 boys 5 and 7. They do eat salad and drink enriched soy milk. Guest guest
Is salad all you eat? I give my daughter vitamins. She is two, and I buy them from Pangea. Guest guest
Hi, Tammy, If you would like to get a better idea of what you might need in your diet in the way of nutrients, here's a handy tool: http://209.48.219.53/ It's the Interactive Healthy Eating Index. You can enter what your kids have been eating and get an idea by nutrient how you've been doing. Also, I would recommend the New Becoming Vegetarian by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. They go through every nutrient and give special attention to kids' needs. A few people mentioned flax, which is definitely important for the omega-3's. Just be sure NOT to heat the oil. Of equal importance is what other fats you are taking in. You want to make sure you don't have too many omega-6's. --Allison , " challengegirltammy " <challengegirltammy> wrote: > > > Hi, I have 2 boys 5 and 7.
