Guest guest
Perhaps you should show your mother some information about meat. How the animals are herded and mistreated. Peta has that information. Also she might find it interesting to know about the antibiotics the animals are full of. Sometimes and education can make a difference. Guest guest
Maybe you can have her read about mad cow disease, salmonella, e-coli etc. Let her know how many children have died from those diseases. I don't think I ever heard of a child dying from a carrot. Namaska7 wrote: Perhaps you should show your mother some information about meat. How the animals are herded and mistreated. Guest guest
For some people, the way the animals are treated prior to being and during slaughter makes no impression on them. I was talking to my neighbor across the street about how animals in shelters are killed daily because people buy " purebred " dogs and cats rather than saving the life of an animal in the shelter. He is planning on buying a purebred dog because in his mind, they are better than " mutts " . I explained to him about the shelters etc... His comment? " So, that's not my problem. I didn't put them there and I don't care how they're treated and if they die. " How sad this made me. Many people just don't get it that ALL life is precious and all living beings have a right to live out their lives in a peaceful manner. Guest guest
Not to mention, most " mutts " are healthier because they are not inbred in order to achieve being " purebred " . Guest guest
Gaile can't you see by the behaviors of people in this country that most folks really don't care. If they did the planet would be in much better shape. Lynda
Guest guest
Yes, Lynda that is so very obvious. It doesn't stop making me sad or stop trying to show them the plight of non-human beings though when I am able. It's our task to educate the rest of the world and not give up because there are so many out there who are uneducated. Frustrating? Yup. Saddening? You betcha. But still worth the effort. Guest guest
Gayle, I know your right but I'm sick of these people walking around with blinders on. Folks just need to try harder. Try harder to be kind to one another. Show compassion for something other than self. Thanks Gayle for keeping me grounded. I get discouraged, sometimes Lynda
