Guest guest
If something is gelatinized, does that mean it has gelatin in it? The onion rings have gelatinized wheat starch (or something like like). Otherwise, it looked like they, the fries, the hash browns, and the apple pie are all vegan. Unless I missed something in my quick look through their ingredients....... Not that I would go there and make a meal out of such an assemblage of fried, fried, and more fried food. But, its always good to know in a pinch. , " outonalimb " <outonalimb@c...> wrote: > > Here is a link that might be useful > http://www.bk.com/Food/Nutrition/ingredients.aspx > The BK 'veggie burger ' now contains eggs and milk . > Teresa > > Re: McVeggie Burger and BK > > > Thanks! Guest guest
So is it the gelatinized wheat starch or the guar gum? I thought guar gum was from an animal source. Guest guest
I actually went to BK's website and for a fast food co. they are pretty upfront. They even list on the bottom of their new MORNINGSTAR Vegie burger that it is not Vegan. They list on their French Toast strips that it contains animal products - they also list if a product is a plant source or an animal source - so at least they are making a little bit of an effort. I checked their onion ring ingredients and there was absolutely no mention of any fish by-products and I must say I would have to give them the benefit of the doubt - however whether or not their onion rings and French Fries are fried with Chicken and fish is another question. quintmom wrote: Do they fry the fries in the same oil as they fry meat and fish products - or even the onion rings? Guest guest
The website is up to date ( that is why I posted the link :-) ) by checking it periodically I discovered that they had changed the Veggie burger recipe by adding eggs and dairy . unfortunately when a consumer enters the store their was ( the last time I was there about 12 weeks ago ) no mention of the recipe change for the veggie burger which used to be vegan . When we were buying the bk burger it always arrived in a regular 'whopper ' wrapper . Teresa I actually went to BK's website and for a fast food co. they are pretty upfront.
