What I find regrettable about it is that their (McD's) goal is to make

kids even more familiar with their brand, and to create a positive

association between a beloved children's program and their restaurant.

The menu at McDonald's is not what I would call healthy for kids (with

the exception of some " healthy " offerings like salads and yogurt--and

how many kid are really choosing those?) So to me, McDonald's

advertising with Sesame St. is not much better than, say, a tobacco

company, They are both seeking their future clientele, and neither have

the children's best interests at heart. McDonald's is not really

interested in " supporting educational efforts for children. "

That could be said for just about every company that is trying to sell

products to parents for kids. Think cereal makers really have the best interest

of

the child at heart? Please, just about every company is out to build a customer

base. Be it for now or for the future when the children grow. That's what

business is about. It's a parent's job to help them learn the difference. And as

I said, it doesn't matter what McDonald's gives money to, a lot of people will

still have a problem with it just because of who they are. I still say it's

far better for them to give money to support an educational show than to do

something else with it.

Gayle,

Okay, maybe I should have said candy manufacturer's. They market toward

children but their best interest in the child is not at heart. The same holds

true.

But Jacqueline, not all cereals are as incredibly unhealthy and in fact

cause serious health problems if consumed on a regular basis as does the

food at McDonald's.

God's Peace,

Gayle
