Guest guest
I'm looking for a good recipe for BBQ Sauce. I've looked at the BBQ sauces that are being sold at health food stores like Whole Foods but am not completely happy with all the ingredients in these products. I would like a recipe that does not include soy sauce or Bragg's amino acids or worchester sauce. I would like to make barbeque tofu. Guest guest
I bought a ketchup (forget the brand) that was chili flavoured. It makes great barbeque tofu. None of the ingredients you listed but it does have some kind of sugar in it. Guest guest
I found this recipe for BBQ sauce in one of my vegetarian cookbooks. It''s the only one I found that didn't use soy sauce. I've never tried it, but I'm not very adventurous in my cooking... 1 T. natural-style peanut butter 1 tsp. vegetable oil 2 1/2 T. ketchup 1 tsp. mustard 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar 2 garlic cloves, pressed 2 tsp. chili powder 1 tsp. molasses A few dashes of Tabasco sauce Generous seasoning of freshly ground pepper Mix together all ingredients. Let sit at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. admartin <admartin wrote: I'm looking for a good recipe for BBQ Sauce. Guest guest
BBQ sauces vary widely in flavor and style. In general there is a balance of sweet and sour with other spices and generally, but not always, tomato. Liquid smoke flavor is usually a good addition. Some styles use a lot of onion. Some are simple variations on ketchup. One of my first attempts mixed Pace Picante Sauce with mustard and molasses. For marinating, a thinner sauce may be better. .... Be kind. Be of good cheer.
