Guest guest
Hello, Does anyone know of a safe and appropriate chat room for vegan kids in the tween age group? My 11 ½ year old son (vegan since birth) would like to correspond with other like minded vegan kids. Thanks, Carin _____ On Behalf Of Kelly Weyd Friday, April 29, 2005 5:36 AM RE: cookie monster For your tile floor I would try using white vinegar and water. I use white vinegar for practically everything. I buy it by the gallon. I like knowing I'm not using some harsh chemical in my home where two little girls, two cats and a dog are running around. On my counter tops I use a spray bottle with 2/3 water, 1/3 vinegar, and about 10-15 drops tea trea oil. Tea Trea Oil is anti-bacterial yet non-toxic. You can put tea trea oil in your mop water too if you want to add some extra anti-bacterial power. Tea Trea Oil is expensive, but I bought this tiny little bottle for $5.00 and it has lasted me for months......definately worth it. I also use the tea trea oil for lots of things. It can be put on a pimple to help get rid of. I use it to swab my throat when I feel like I'm getting sick (it does taste nasty). I've also heard lice don't like tea trea oil. I've heard if you put a couple drops in your families conditioner that your kids won't get the lice when there is an outbreak at school. On a completely different topic, can anyone recommend some natural home cleaning recipes, or a site where I can find them? I am specifically looking for something with which to clean the tile floor in my kitchen/dining room. Everything I've tried seems to leave a film or stickiness on the tile. Thanks in advance! On Behalf Of jpetrusplus Wednesday, April 27, 2005 11:10 PM cookie monster So by chance we were watching sesame street the other day and it was the much-talked-about episode with all the good nutrition themes and Cookie Monster singing about cookies as a " sometime food. " So I was very curious what my toddler would think about it, I watched with her, she was on my lap so she wouldn't even take any cues from my from facial expressions, I didn't want to taint her opinion or indeed even ask her opinion, just wanted to see if she would say anything. At the end of Cookie's segment with all the healthy " anytime foods " she turned to me and said, " I want a COOKIE!! " ROTFL! But then a few days later, we got up and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. There was chocolate cake on the counter, leftover from the baby shower the night before, and it really looked good to me! I thought it would be easy to convince her to be my partner in crime and I said, " HEy, I know what we can have for breakfast! How about chocolate cake?! " But she looked real disappointed and said, " NO! I want OATMEAL! " So, we both had oatmeal, how could I sit there and eat cake when my toddler is opting for the healthy choice? Guest guest
Carin- If you end up not being able to find one you should consider creating one! :-) Cheers, Jacqueline http://www.wahm-magazine.com/ - the online magazine for the work at home mom. Guest guest
I have been looking for that for a while now and haven't yet found anything that has any kind of posting volume. There have been one or two lists that post every few weeks. My dd, also 11, vegetarian not vegan, would love to have other kids to correspond with but there doesn't seem to be anyone out there. If you find anything maybe you could let us know. Brian & Carin Diggle <4vegans wrote:Hello, Does anyone know of a safe and appropriate chat room for vegan kids in the tween age group? Guest guest
I did that yesterday. says it will take a few days for it to be listed but it is called veggie_tweens. It is really for kids under 13. My dd is 11 and I really made it for her to meet other kids around her age. I encourage you all to have your kids join. Guest guest
Hello Jacqueline, Great big thanks to you for taking the initiative to start the " veggie_tweens " . After reading your first message, my son and I were going to look into starting a group. We are so very excited about this. BTW I noticed that you also have a daughter the same age as my Kalla, 6/28/97. Please let us know when it is up and running. Guest guest
Hello Dick, I knew that there had to be other vegan 11 year olds out there! I would like to pass the info on to my son, please tell me your sons interests i.e. books, movies etc. Hopefully they will find a common thread to begin a conversation. Guest guest
It's up. Go to .com and type in veggie_tweens. Then just join. You need to be approved because I don't want to let anyone who would be inappropriate for the kids. Also new members are moderated. I want this to be a safe list for our kids. parents are also invited to join as long as they remember that the list is for the kids. I look forward to seeing your child there. Guest guest
That sounds exciting. I can't wait till my daughter is old enough to join. What's the youngest age kid that is on the group? My daughter is 4 and just starting to learn to read so obviously it will be a year or two. , " Dick Ford " <dickford@d...> wrote: > My 11 year old son is very excited about chatting with other veggie kids his > age in the Carol started.
