Would anyone know of any companies that sell environmentally safe carpet

shampoo? I've searched the Internet without success. I have a Hoover

SteamVac that I use to shampoo my carpet and I want to start using " green

clean " products in it. (Hoover says that I can do this!)

Jacq, there is an ad in Natural Home and Garden magazine for a company

that sells just this. I can't remember the name, but I will look for it

tonight at home and post it tomorrow.

I use a small amount of peppermint or lavender Dr Bronner's soap and

water in my Hoover Carpet Cleaner. It works really well and smells

lovely, too. Mine is not a " SteamVac " though - so I'm not sure

whether Dr Bronner's would work for you.

Gaiam.com sells one. I've used it in my Hoover steamer and it works fairly

well.

My only complaint is it didn't completely get rid of the dog urine smell (my

older toy poodle has sprung a leak :-(

If you can't find it on their site I can try to find the name of it for you.

I also have a Hoover SteamVac, and it's a well used machine in our house. I do

not use the hoover shampoo, with the exception of only using a little bit on an

occasional tough stain. For everything else I just use water and a bit of white

vinegar added. Yes, once again it's the vinegar......I use it for practically

everything. I'm sure there are lots of enviromentally friendly cleaning

products out there, but for me personally I'm cheap so I try to come up with the

cheapest way of doing something that is still safe for my family and pets. I

spend so much money on organic produce (I just planted a garden, so hopefully

I'll save there too) I try to be cheap in other ways.
