Hi All

I was hoping that somebody would be able to recommend some restaurant where we

can get vegan food both in south Florida and also in Toronto/Montreal. After we

leave the Farm Sanctuary we will be going to Canada. I've never been and I'm

hoping the kids and I can find stuff to eat. We are going to Florida in a few

weeks. We will be visiting my mom so when we are home food will be no problem.

We are going to drive down to the Keys. I would like to be able to eat more

than lettuce. Any suggestions?

If you are in the Ft. Lauderdale area, " Sublime " is a great restaurant. We

recently ate there and all of us had great food!

Check out www.veg.ca, particularly http://www.veg.ca/directory/index.html

for restaurants in Toronto. There is LOTS to choose from!! Print off the

pdf directory and choose where to go. Farm Sancturary is wonderful - if

you haven't been before - you will love it there.

Le Commensal in Toronto had delicious food. It was great for my toddlers.

The food is served buffet style and there were so many selections. There

were plenty of organic vegan and vegetarian dishes. The ingredients to all

their dishes are available if you ask for them. There were plenty of organic

vegan and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant does not serve any meat.

Toronto has a lot of vegetarian restaurants. If you go to www.toronto.com

you will find at least 22 of them. Have fun!

Sante,(I think that's the name...if I'm wrong,I'll correct myself in

another message.),they're both in the same neighbourhood....Mont

Royal area,(again,I haven't been there in awhile so I can't remember

addresses,sorry,but they're both really yummy).

The Key Lime Pie at Caroline's or anyplace for that matter is not vegan.

It's made with sweetened condensed milk and egg yolks. Some use whipped

cream or (ugh!) Cool Whip also. I was raised in Key West and am all too

familiar with Key Lime Pie. There are vegan versions you can make, but the

commercial ones are not vegan unless there's a commercial vegan one out that

I am not aware of (which is entirely possible). I don't know of any

specifically vegan restaurants in the Keys, but it has been some time since

I've been down there. There used to be a neat place around the corner of

Simonton and Eaton that was an all natural place. It was in a house that

didn't look anything like a restaurant. I'm thinking it's not there anymore

but I'm not sure. Most of the places you can talk to the chef and s/he will

make a vegan dish for you. Since Key West's main industry is tourism, they

many times will go out of their way to make sure they can accomodate you -

at least they used to.

God's Peace,

Gayle
