Guest guest
Hi everyone, I know it seems early but I am already starting to think about September. This year I will have to send a lunch with my son and I'm looking for cookbook suggestions. I know this topic has been done to death here but, unless it is relevant to me at the moment I tend not to remember the particulars of the post. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, as I always start off with the best of intentions in september, I'm thinking of buying a slow cooker and recipe book. I'd like to know if those of you that have slow cookers find them useful. I also wanted a recipe book suggestion. I think I remember hearing that there is a veg one. Is it heavy into eggs/cheese/etc or does it have vegan options as well. (We're not full-fledged vegan but we try to steer away from teggs/dairy whenever possible.) Are the recipes simple? Ingredients easy to find? Any opinions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I never buy cookbooks so if I'm going to buy two, I'd like them to be really useful. Hope you are all enjoying summer. It has been quiet here lately so people must be on vacation. Thanks, Madeline

Guest guest
Hi Faith I just tried to log onto vegetarian-slow-cooker-recipes and I found that it was one of those sites that asks for your personal info and then put up all these offers. It leads to tons of junk mail, both e-mail and snail mail. Did you actually try it? Did you get to the recipes? I'd love to look at it. Guest guest
Hi Carol, Here's the link: http://www.slow-cooker.com/vegetarian-slow-cooker-recipes.html I have used the site and the chili was quite nice. Just click on the actual recipes on the left or at the bottom (not on the links to other websites). One thing I did find useful for using bulk dry beans in the slow-cooker was to soak the beans in a bowl of water overnight, then drain and add to the cooker with all your ingredients. Your pot will cook while you're at work. Add some couscous to your chili or stew or soup and you'll have all your daily recommendations in one bowl. Best of luck!
