Guest guest
Hi, I responded to the writer of the vegan wedding cake post, not realizing that I failed to post to the group. I found some vegan cakes while perusing a magazine called _Organic Style_. The issue was March 2005. They featured a gorgeous vegan wedding cake called cherry blossom cake. They also listed a bunch of websites for vegan wedding cakes: lotuscakestudio.com and hippiechicbakery.com and cakesbylisaf.com to name a few. Happy baking! Guest guest
Hi, The owner of the cafe who is doing the catering is a raw-foodist and therefore won't do the cake. He has provided me with other alternatives for the cake, but they won't feed nearly 80 people. I think I'm going to just make the cake myself. Bakeries actaully want to charge me more for making it vegan. I made one for my daughter's first birthday that was awesome. No one believed me that it was vegan. I just hope I can find the time with the million other things to do for my wedding. Thanks for your suggestion. Guest guest
Hi Mandy, You can make the cake ahead and freeze it. Just don't put the icing on until just before you need it. Guest guest
Ah that makes sense. My husband and I were lacto-ovo when we got married so we didn't encounter that problem with the cake. Though some of our relatives weren't too happy with the vegetarian dishes that we had served. Oh well it was our day! Congratulations on your wedding I hope everything goes well. Guest guest
Sticky Fingers in DC is a fantastic bakery! I had them ship a whole bunch of sweets to a friend after she had a baby. Not sure how well a wedding cake would travel from DC to MA, though. You might get some ideas from Veg News's annual wedding issue: http://www.vegnews.com/wedding_2005.html Karen > > --- mandy symonds <starpopple67> wrote: > > > Hi, > > The owner of the cafe who is doing the catering is a > > raw-foodist and therefore won't do the cake. Guest guest
Interesting that you should mention Sticky Fingers bakery, I was in DC last week and went there for the first time. Amazingly good, everything is vegan and made with no hydrogenated oils. I was planning on recommending it to the list when I got back and then you beat me to it.
