Guest guest
About vegan gummy bears: I wanted to clarify that there are vegan gummy bear CANDIES made by Edward and Sons Trading Company. They are sold under the label " Let's Do...Organic " and come in 6 varieties. There are also vegetarian gummy bear SUPPLEMENTS (called Yummi Bear made by Hero Nutritionals). I do not think these are vegan, as the source of vitamin D appears to be animal derived (cholecalciferol). It looks like there are some other brands of gummy bear supplements, too, that also contain D3 and gelatin, so are not vegetarian at all. But the two should not be confused. The supplements should NOT be used as candy, as they should only get the specified number recommended per day and no more. Amie > >
Guest guest
Could you soak them in some carbonated drink, like sprite? Would they turn to mush? I guess you could serve them in a drink as well, if you'd like. --- On Thu, 2/12/09, rtillmansmail <rtillmansmail wrote: rtillmansmail <rtillmansmail gummy bears Thursday, February 12, 2009, 12:23 PM Hi all, I have some Let's Do Organic bears that are a couple of years old and have turned hard (imagine!). I wish to use them for a valentine's party tomorrow. I have opened the individual packages and emptied the candies into an open jar hoping they will absorb moisture from the air. Any suggestions on how to soften them? Thanks, Carrol
Guest guest
have you tried to eat them? sometimes they feel hard but are okay to eat. Exposing to the air wouldn't do the trick. Not sure what else to do. Guest guest
Good call. An orange peel slice in a zip top bag can work, too. Cassie " life's a garden, dig it! Guest guest
Thanks for all the tips. I left them open for a day and they soften everywhere except on the nose. But, they don't taste that well to me and there are white spots Maybe the kids won't mind. If there are any soft drinks at the party, I'll try that for a few minutes. I do have other items to use at the party but I hate wasting food like this. Lesson - gummies don't last 2 years! Guest guest
This response might be a little too late...but put a piece of loaf bread in the bag/container with the gummy bears. I've done this with other baked goods and the hard item will absorb moisture from the loaf bread. It always works for me but I don't know if it will work with candy. , " rtillmansmail " <rtillmansmail wrote: > > Hi all, > I have some Let's Do Organic bears that are a couple of years old and > have turned hard (imagine!).
