I have a 9 month old son. Any advice or suggestions on

first finger foods? He's been eating a variety of

pureed fruits and veggies for a few months.

cheerios, apple jacks, and fruit loops are vegan and

make great snacks for infants.

You can try giving him grapes cut into small pieces,

Kiwi fruit, Cheese stick, banana chips, corn chips,

boiled carrots, apple. Basically you can give him

anything which is not hard to eat.

I started giving my daughter tofu cubes and chickpeas

around that age and now she will gladly eat and tofu

dish I make. Earth's Best has a few cereals that are

really good for finger foods. Its also good to start

giving your son a liitle taste of whatever you are

eating.

Some of the first finger foods I gave to my son (now 18 months) were small

chunks of banana, avocado, and kiwi. I rolled the pieces in wheat germ so

they weren't so slippery - which also added extra nutrition. There are

also lots of organic varieties of Cherrio-type cereals that you can find

in the health food stores.

here are some of the things that I gave my son

1) boiled veggies/fuits (like carrot, beans, peas,

pears, apples etc) do not over boil them, and you can

add a pinch of salt for veggies if you desire.

2) rice cake (you can get recipe from

http://www.indianchild.com/Recipes/mini_meals_recipe/idli_recipe.htm)

3) Cherios and Rice puffs are some good snacks

All those cereails are not totally vegan. They all are sweetened with white

processed sugar. Processed through bone char. Plus the fruit loops color I

believe is non vegan.

Yes! Super Baby Food is wonderful! I wouldn't have gotten through

the " beginning on solid foods " period without that book. There is

plenty of info on nutrition. I use the recipes for my family members of

all ages.

From a very early age (can't exactly remember when but it was around six

months), my son ate small pieces of veggie burger, cooked green beans, cubes

of tofu, and lots of Oatios. Also cooked whole wheat pasta in shapes like

rotini that were easy for him to hold.

Organic Oatios, toast cut into cubes, little banana or pear pieces,

avocado chunks, graham crackers, any kind of cracker pieces that

dissolve easily, soft melon, steamed tofu pieces...

Have fun!
