Guest guest
Cindy, As a childbirth educator and doula, I have a few thoughts about your question. First, I'm a bit perplexed that you are asking about formula before even looking at nursing your child. If you know that this is not a possibility then it would make sense to look at formula. La Leche League has a great website with great info. Even women who adopt babies can lactate without going through a pregnancy. Sorry for the long answer; but this is very near and dear to my heart. Guest guest
Hi I used Isomil briefly as I transitioned from breastfeeding (its what her doctor recommeded for a soy formula) and then later Nestle's Next Step Soy (it was much cheaper) and formula was getting expensive compared to breastmilk. I'm not 100% sure either are vegan - but I trusted that they were since they were soy milk. Renee --- Cynthia Pfeffer <cpfeff1 wrote: > Hello everyone. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, The cheapest, easiest and healthiest way to feed your baby without giving them animal based formula is to breastfeed. I'm quite willing to give you any information you need. I used to be a La Leche League Leader and still volunteer with a breastfeeding support group here at times. Guest guest
Every brand of formula has a soy type. But I don't think they are vegan because I think they use D3 which is an animal product. I don't know if there is one that is completely vegan. I used Isomil and just lived with the source of the vit D. Cynthia Pfeffer <cpfeff1 wrote:Hello everyone. I'm a long time vegetarian, 5-year vegan trying to conceive my first child. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, I had trouble as well - the only one I found was located in England. I ended up having to use a soy formula but it has vitamin D3 which may or may not be an animal source. Fortunately I do not have to give it to my daughter all the time - I had to use it because I wasn't producing enough breast milk. Unfortunately there are reports that children may become allergic to soy products from the use of soy formula. But I can't bear to give my daughter any milk products. So I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that she doesn't develop any allergies. If anyone else knows of a better solution, I'd love to hear your ideas also. ~Michele Cynthia Pfeffer <cpfeff1 wrote: Hello everyone.
