Howdy! So glad to see a group like this we really need it. I'm

actually a member of weight watchers but have found that there is

little support for us veggie types, it would appear that people have

a view that veggies don't have weight issues.

Well just as there are vegetarians, there are certainly junkaterians

and it's easy to get heavy with all the carbladen foods among us!

I have only been a vegetarian for about 2 months infact I think it

will be 2 months as of January 9th. I'm having a very good time with

it and feel healthier and more harmonious than ever! I do rely on

lots of meat analogs but I love my beans and bulgar too and try to

mix it up. I'm classic lacto-ovo, but try not to buy animal products

either, however I do love wool sweaters but only buy recycled wool or

from Good Will (a favorite place to shop! I find great clothes at

super low prices) I'm a goodwillstore junkie!!!

A little about me:

I'm in my 20s and live with my boyfriend in Texas he's a typical

carnviore but I've got him eating veggie with me at least 1 time per

week and he totally encourages me to eat vegetarian cause he thinks

it makes me happier :)

I work and go to school but have no real direction yet, that was my

NY resolution that and to save money which I'm doing pretty good with.

I've got 2 dogs and love the outdoors and I totally dig exercise it's

one of my favorite things to do, and one of the very few things I do

daily that I do for me and really enjoy!

I guess that's it! Take care and have a good one. It would be cool if

we could share recipes too

Hey there! I'm in Texas too, central Texas. I'm in a

household of carnies...I'm the only veggie.

Goodwill (and the local thrifts here in town) are my

favorite places to shop. I've gotten to be such a

deal hound that I grumble if I have to pay more than

$5 for a great pair of pants!!

Warmly,

Allison

I have to agree with this, i find that alot of slimming plans and

slimming magazines just don't cater for veggies, if you're lucky its

mentioned as an aside. I'm just starting on weightwatchers myself

(not sure if its the same in the uk or not) for the second time and

found it really helped. My points guide has a section on veggie

food and the majority are so much lower in points than their meat

counterparts.

I live with my boyfriend and he's much the same. I don't think i

could ever " turn " him veggie but he'll cook and eat veggie meals

with me a couple of days a week.

Thanks again for the intro Ima, we'll look forward to hearing from

you again soon,

Hi Allison, Ron and Everyone Else!

I am Pat, living in Canada with my husband. We have been vegetarian

(ovo-lacto) for 18 or 20 years, more or less (the less is when we have

tried a little meat or fish for a while again and decided it wasn't for

us - again).

We are vegetarian for a number of reasons - but the reasons don't matter

to anyone but ourselves, so I'll spare you all the lecture ;=) It's

preaching to the converted anyway.

I want to join this group because I want to lose a little weight and

hope that I can pick up a few ideas and recipes as well as a little

support - besides, it looks like a fun group! Of course, I understand

(as Ron says) that diet is only part of losing weight or being healthy.

But this group is about a vegetarian slimming diet, I understand, so I

hope that it does focus on that ;=) I am already limiting the lacto part

of my ovo-lacto diet in order to cut out unnecessary fat (the operative

word being *unnecessary* as in excess fat) - but I would welcome some

great cooking ideas.

I look forward to chatting to you all.

best,

pat
