Guest guest
Hi, Laura: I noticed that your recipe has cheese and olive oil in it. I'll tell you honestly that I do not eat simple sugar(s), fats or oils when I am trying to lose weight, because I feel that any of them is too much. All the sugar, fats and oils that I need to live healthy and achieve a healthy weight--without dieting--are contained in vegetables and fruits, beans and grains. I can eat these things without dieting and lose to a trim and healthy weight without going hungry. If I eat sweets, cheese, fats and oils, then I have to worry about how much is too much; and I have to diet very seriously to be sure I don't get too much sugar, fats and oils. I suggest that dieting is a form of insanity. Health and wellness is very simple: eat fruits, vegetables, beans and grains and nothing else; and walk 30 minutes a day. That's what I'm attempting to do. It's difficult to do that in a world full of television commercials, gourmet restaurants, office parties and fat people scarfing doughnuts, pies and cakes at every opportunity. I'm angry. I feel that my parents cheated me when they taught me how to eat, and I feel that my society exploits me for money when they push all that sugar, fat and oil on me and refine my whole grains and flour. I don't know what to do about being angry. I think time is the sure way, but I could probably try prayer and willingness also. , " Laura <child_of_the_80s@h...> " <child_of_the_80s@h...> wrote: > Here's a recipe from a cook book i've had for a while. Actually recent research shows that a small amount of oil is fine. And two tsp in this recipe only represents about 70 calories. However, I think you should do what works for you. Since I am a huge fan of eggplant (aubergines) I will certainly try this dish. I have no problem with the olive oil, the only quibble I have is that it seems very low protein. I will probably add some soy granules. >I'm angry. He's wrong of course, but he taught me the best wisdom of his era. I get angry too and I am not sure what to do with it either. There are several places around the net where you can learn mediation which I find very helpful. I can post the urls if you (or anyone) are interested. In our prim and proper world where getting along is overly prized, far too many people are afraid to have emotions that take this kind of risk. So what i am suggesting with the recipes that i'll post here is a compromise, which is acceptable to most people, some interesting recipes which are low in fat and calories. I think that many people, including myself, will find them useful. It would be interesting if you could give us an example of the types of things you eat for meals Ron. Its sounds like the type of thing that i would aspire to, but my willpower isn't always great, and i do like the odd treat every now and then. There is a diet written about on the net called the paleo-diet i think, that kind of thing, and its quite similar to the diet you describe. Some of the sites advocate eating meat too but some are vegetarian and talk about just eating fruits, veg, grains and beans. >> > I'm angry. I'm sorry you feel so angry Ron, and i hope that you find a positive way to deal with that energy. It can be hard when there is no one to answer to something like this, as you said it is society that is causing this phenomenon. There's a book called, i think, Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser about the type of typical diet you describe, you may find it interesting. thanks for some intersting discussion, Laura
