Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I came across this group while searching the on the topic of nutrition. I have been vegitarian for the past 30 years ... ever since going to India to study yoga. I'm 56, forever single (lol), and spent about 24 years in asia - mostly Japan. I see you have a questionaire - if I get a copy I will fill it out ! I recently did a Master Cleanser fast (lemondade diet) ... the first ever fast I have ever done! I managed to do it for 22 days - a 10 day fast is considered standard, but some people I know have gone for 35 days. I did it because I wanted the cleansing part ... and also I knew I would lose some weight. I dropped about 27 lbs. in 22 days. I am 5'11 " and was 217 lbs ... now 190 lbs. So I want to now NOT gain it back ! I also want to gradually increase my activity level and slowly continue to lose fat ... till I get to about 170 lbs ... that would be nice ! I used to be 165 lbs for years when I was in my late 20's / early 30's. I love Indian food and cheeses ... and strong coffee with real cream in it ! I have now basically become vegan since the fast ended. I have also given up coffee, processed snacks, and chocolate ... more or less ! During my fast, I discovered the Fasting Forum group on , and it was quite a find for someone interested in fasting. There, I came across the concept of the Raw Food Diet. I don't think I can fully embrace it yet ... people invite me out to All-You-Can-Eat-East- Indian buffets ... and so on ! lol ! But at home, and the food I take to the office, is all basically raw ... lots of fruit, and killer salads that I have learned to make. And nuts (raw when possible) and dried fruit from time to time. I have some questions about soy products like tofu that I may have to go to a nutrition forum to get definitive answers to, but I will mention them here: I had come to consider tofu " normal " food, after all my years in Japan ! And I enjoy varous VeggieBurger-type products that contain soy. However on the sites that discuss the Raw Food Diet, it is sometimes said that tofu, and soy products in general, are by no means good food for human consumption ! (Good for cattle perhaps, but not humans!) Anyway, I would like to get some EXPERT opinion about this idea. (I realize the preceeding is not a slimming question per se) Well, that's enough rambling for now ! All the best, -Ron Snider- Edmonton, Alberta
Guest guest
Hello and Congratulations Ron for making it 22 days on the Master Cleanser. Last year I made it 2 days on the Master Cleanser and really needed a cup of strong coffee..lol...better luck for me next time. I eat grains, raw fruits, veggies, whole wheat pasta, mixed dried fruits with different nuts, ect...ect....and yes I have 2 cups of strong coffee a day with cream. I take a calcium/magnesium vitamin 3 times a day. I drink a few different types of herbal teas at night. I run long distance and drink 2 Whey powder protein shakes a day. The Pure Whey powder that I buy has no animal products in it...excellent for veggies. I also take Ultimate Oil Blend, a balanced blend of omega 3 and omega 6 oils. I take 2 tbsp of Colloida Trace Minerals mixed in water twice a day. I have aways been into health and fittness for many moons. You never stop learning and I am looking forward to reading whatever comes my way. Do you drink lots of water? I drink anywhere between 8 and 12 glasses a day of water a day depending on my workouts. Good luck to you on your weight loss. Bridget If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere. - Vincent Van GoghPost your free ad now! Guest guest
Hi Bridget, Thanks ! The hunger pretty well goes away by day 3 ... or so I found. The cayenne has a lot to do with the lemonade being able to provide a " full " felling ... or so I found. I eat mixed dried fruit that I have bought since my fast ended. And because I don't like to throw out food, I am also currently eating some mixed nuts snack that I made before my diet and have been keeping in the freezer. It has a variety of nuts in it, including peanuts, cashews, shelled sunflower, corn nuts, seasame sticks ... and even some chocolate chips ! None of it is raw, but I plan to buy more raw nuts ... too bad they are more expensive than the roasted kind ;-( In the morning I am drining a quart of good water, warmed, with a fresh lemon squeezed into it. That is breakfast. At first it seemed strange to have the lemon like that, but now I am quite hooked on it and look forward to it like I did my coffee ... but think how much better it is for me ! From about mid-day, I eat mostly a " fritarian " (www.fruitarian.com) sort of diet ... fruit and salad. You do not need to drink much or any water with the fruit diet ... it is mostly water already ! When I go home I have some fruit, sometimes more salad (I will describe my salads next time). In the evening, because I do not like to throw out food, I am currently slowly consuming, in small portions, things like the pasta, sauces, and canned goods in my larder. In the future, I know I will probably go off my diet often enough by going out to eat with friends, being invited out for meals (I am the single elderly bachelor, and people seem to invite me out a fairly often ! ;-), so at home, I don't want to stock those things ... I want to pursue the raw-food/fruitarian diet as far as practical. Cheers ! -Ron Snider- Edmonton, Alberta , Earthy Lady <earthylady_39> wrote: > > Hello and Congratulations Ron for making it 22 days on the Master Cleanser.
