Guest guest
Hi Laura: Are you really HUNGRY when you wake up or are you eating due to boredom (what else is there to do at 3am) If you are reallyHUNGRY, it may behoove (sp?) you to have something like half a bagel with a tablespoon of peanut butter on it before you go to bed-- the carb/protein combo should stave off true hunger pains throughout the course of the night. Now if you're bored, you may want to keep a book (or a sketch pad) next to your bed, which is what i do. I just don't allow myself to get up, cuz I don't want my body thinking "Ok--I'll just get a few hours of sleep and then I can eat again." ~One of the Other Laura's ********************* If it's meant to be, It will be. Guest guest
I have the same problem. I tend to stay up, at my computer, and snack (usually microwave popcorn) till the wee hours of the morning. Realizing that one does it is a first step. Second, I think, is that one eats well balanced meals. Third, should be, find something to replace snacking (or just go to bed earlier). Guest guest
>I'm not >sure how to combat this late night snacking, but i guess realising >that it happens is a good first step. Have you tried getting a drink instead? I know a drink of water is not going to stop the hunger or the need to munch, but a smoothie might. Sometimes a smoothie can be so filling its like a mini meal in a glass. If you can make a big jug of it then you can just pour yourself a glass when you fancy a snack. I really like raspberry and strawberry or mango flavour. I make them with either fruit juice and a banana to make it thicker, or soya milk and soya yoghurt. You could also add some silken tofu to add some protein (which may fill you up more)but i'd start with the tofu and puree it, then add other ingredients. I really love smoothies and they work for me, the only thing is the effort in preparing them so i'd make in bulk. I'd say, don't try to stop snacking, because your body obviously needs it, but try to eat healthier things. you could also make up a big fruit salad and grab a bowl of that when hungry. If you crave chocolate, you can melt a few squares and add it to some yoghurt to make a chocolatey low fat sauce and pour this on top. The flavour of yoghurt doesn't matter, strawberry or raspberry work well. Hope this helps, Laura ----------- Take a look at my : My online diary is at: http://laurakate01.diaryland.com/ ----------- " A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite.
