Guest guest
Good morning, Renee, and welcome to the group ;=) It's wonderful to have you here - especially, may I add, with all your experience at vegetarian and vegan modes of eating and living! I myself have been vegetarian (with some time off, now and then, because of stupidity or illness ;=)) for around twenty years but have been following a vegan diet for just a year. I know what you mean about needing to meet other vegetarians. My husband is also vegetarian/aspiring vegan, but no one else in our family is (Mother: 'I'm really a vegan too - I only eat chicken breasts a couple of times a week and the rest of the time it's just vegetables and fish.') and some friends who used to be vegetarians a couple of decades ago when we were switching over *now* are carnivores with the best or worst of them *lol* - not funny of course, but certainly ironic. Well, you'll find lots of friends here to chat to about things, give support, provide ideas and recipes and tips for healthy living. So jump in and start chatting, okay? Also, have a look on the webpage for recipes in the Files section (and other hints), at the Links, and of course vote in the Polls that are still open ;=) Take care - chat soon? I look forward to it. Guest guest
Hi Pat, Know what you mean about " alleged " vegetarians. It used to make me crazy when someone would say, " Oh, I'm vegetarian. I only eat fish. " For years I would try to education/enlighten with " If you eat animals you are not a vegetarian. " Now I don't have the energy some of the time, and let it pass, unless I think that it is someone who will really listen to me and consider what I'm saying. Guest guest
I know ;=) Me too. I figure that if they are already saying 'I only eat .... [fill in the blank]' they know that they should probably be doing without all animal meats in their diets. And if they are *not* doing without it - as evidenced by saying they still eat a little - then my arguments won't convince them. They may agree at the moment, but they won't really change. The exception, of course, are those whose health advisors have told them to cut down on animal protein but still have a couple of servings of it on the weekly menu. Those you can sometimes get through to ;=) Anyway, I do my thing and hope that my example rather than my arguments persuade a few people. Of course, on *this* list I will argue myself blue in the face that we should all be vegetarian!!!! *lol* Safe place, this list ;=) - for everyone, including those members who are still making the transition to vegetarianism.
