Guest guest
Hi Carol, some of us are doing the McDougall Program which might be ideal for you as it doesn't include any animal products at all, but mainly starches, fruit and vegetables. Here's a link for you:- http://members.tripod.com/~susang2/mwlp.htm Janey xx i am 43 next month and 2 stone overweight. every time i look for diets they include meat, fish and poultry. i do not eat any animal products at all. what type of low fat food can i eat, which can be found in a normal supermarket. many thanks. carol. Guest guest
I would suggest (and hopefully i will FOLLOW my own suggestion!) sticking to the basics. The one thing about the dreaded Atkins that is good is it gets people away from overly processed foods (white bread, white rice). Ok, but the rest is bunk. Anyway.... try not to focus on low-fat... a bit of fat is ok for you. Mainly focus on adding new GOOD things to your diet and slowly weeding out the bad habits. Use brown rice instead of white. Find some good 100% whole wheat bread (got to read the labels). Ezekial bread is a good one too but it's usually only carried in health food stores. Beans are good for you, they fill you up and are nutritious AND low in fat. McDougall's plan is a great one too. I found it a bit restrictive but people are all wired differently. I like tofu & tempeh and they are good sources of protein. I should have put this together in a better flowing manner. I'll give you a link to the vegetarian food pyramid (and the vegan if i find it). They sum it up well. peace nikki http://www.oldwayspt.org/pyramids/veg/p_veg.html food pyramid with eggs? i don't use them but they aren't mandatory, it's just an option here well, i can't find the vegan pyramid now ( i did find a cool link though about better health through FRUIT! It's really a great site so i'll share it here http://www.thefruitpages.com/weightloss.shtml Now, if i can just manage to use some of the great info i have found. For me, the hardest part is following through! i am 43 next month and 2 stone overweight. every time i look for diets they include meat, fish and poultry. i do not eat any animal products at all. what type of low fat food can i eat, which can be found in a normal supermarket. many thanks. carol.
