Guest guest
Does anyone know if it’s possible to freeze tofu? I can only buy it in large packets that contain about 4 servings and, as I live alone, I often end up throwing some away when it’s reached its use by date. Is it possible to freeze it raw straight from the pack, or maybe cooked for example in a casserole? Thanks, Fiona
Guest guest
yes, you can freeze tofu in its present state, but it will change the consistancy of it...more chewy when its thawed Nancy...who is new to the list and needs to send an intro! - Fiona Dixon Tuesday, May 04, 2004 3:53 PM Question about tofu Does anyone know if it’s possible to freeze tofu? Guest guest
Hi Nancy-new-to-this-list etc ;=) Yes, we'd love an intro from you. a form of power, maybe. But we're all pretty harmless to dive right in and do it!! Okay?? Yes, I too freeze tofu all the time - and save the frozen remains for those dishes which ask for frozen tofu - the ones that want a me*ty texture to the tofu rather than a creamy one. Just remember to squeeze out the extra water after it has thawed for a really chewy texture which most people crave. Guest guest
That’s brilliant - thanks, Nancy and Pat. I prefer tofu with a slightly chewy texture so freezing it is going be the ideal option. veggiehound [veggiehound] 04 May 2004 21:26 Re: Question about tofu Hi Nancy-new-to-this-list etc ;=) Yes, we'd love an intro from you. a form of power, maybe.
