Guest guest
Hi Morgan, Sorry that I can't help with veg friendly eating places near Cocoa Beach. I am on the west coast of Florida, and there are no such restaurants even in my area! I don't remember where Maida lives; maybe east coast? It has been chilly here, and saw on the news this a.m. that Cocoa Beach is expecting rain, but by the time you arrive here the weather should be better. I have done the drive from Miami to San Francisco, and it is a long one Good luck and have fun on the journey. Regards, Karen

Good grief that's bad news :=( I dunno why, but the way so many people talk/write I'd have thought Florida was awash with veggie spots! Maybe it's all that sun and fruit people like me think of when we think of Florida! Commiserations. Pat ;=)
Guest guest
Hi Pat, Yep, there's plenty of sunshine and fresh fruit here, that's for sure. Large cities like Miami, Tampa and Orlando have more veg-friendly restaurants, but I am in a rural part of west central Florida, where barbecue and hunting are very popular (don't get me started . No, I'm not here by choice (having moved from San Francisco - talk about veg friendly!!), but do the best I can as family matters require me to be here for now. Groups like vegslimming are a lifeline for me! Best, Karen
Guest guest
Nah, Pat. Florida is not an overly veg*n friendly state. I, too live on the west coast of FL (Tampa Bay area) and there really aren't any specifically veg*n restaurants in my area. There are three really good stores that have veg*n groceries - two expensive ones that once you buy their products gives you no time to eat the food you buy there since you're having to be out working double and triple jobs just to pay their prices and one better priced. One chain recently went out of business mostly from expanding too quickly and the existence of Nutrition S'Mart which is the better priced store and is also on the east coast of FL. There are some other small stores but because they are so small, their prices are waaay too expensive for me to even walk into. As far as restaurants go, there are those where the staff will gladly make veg*n food for you once requested but nothing on the menu is really veg*n. I can't think of any restaurant that advertises veg*n fare in this area. Maida, I think lives in Broward or Palm Beach County on the east coast. Those are a bit away from Brevard County where Cocoa Beach is. I used to live in Broward County. It is more progressive in the veg*n scene. I never had a problem when I wanted to go out to eat with finding a veg*n friendly place. <Sigh> Wish the rest of Florida would get a clue. God's Peace, Gayle

That explains it - I was confusing Brevard with Broward LOL It's all a foreign country to me, I'm afraid! Best, Pat ;=)

Uh-oh! :=( Sympathy! >No, I'm not here by choice (having moved from San Francisco - talk about veg friendly!!) Yes it really is, isn't it! We used to travel through SFO a lot when we lived in Oz, and we have friends there so any excuse to stop off and nosh down LOL >Groups like vegslimming are a lifeline for me! Awwww, that's nice, Karen ;=) To me too, of course, although we do have some veggie restaurants that have vegan dishes here. And vegetarianslimming is delighted to have you too! Best love, Pat ;=)
