Guest guest
I have elliminated all animal products from my diet and have also elliminated all refinded sugars and flours from my diet as well. I am very tired. I am taking a vitiamin B-12 supplement under different advice i have gotten here and from my doctor. Is there something I am doing wrong? I am limiting grains. Although today I did have some oatmeal and chinese noodles. I am advised against tofu because of a health condition in which tofu and other soy products can affect my body and the drugs I must take. Is this normal for a new vegetarian? Kirsten
Guest guest
Hi Kirsten, Sorry that you're not feeling too well. If your doctor has recommended a B12 supplement, I presume she/he knows that you are vegetarian. Maybe some lab work could be ordered to rule out things like anemia. Please understand that I am not giving medical advice, just a suggestion. Best regards, Karen
Guest guest
Another thought, Kirsten, is are you eating enough? You have eliminated alot of foods from your diet, so are you getting enough to eat to keep your energy levels up? Karen
Guest guest
It could be so many things. Are you overweight? How long have you been like this?I assume since you went to a doctor you aren't anemic? Sunflower seeds are extrememly high in iron. Adding those to your diet could certainly help. You might have a sluggish liver, taking milk thistle could certianly help no matter what medication you are on. Guest guest
Are you just changing your diet, or are you focusing on your entire lifestyle. Food is only 1/10 of what makes up a persons life style in my opinion. There's exercise, water, sunshine, fresh air, stress, rest, diet ... to name a few. My experience is make sure mostly you are drinking enough water, you're exercising moderately, enough rest, lower your stress, and eat LOTS and LOTS of RAW fruits, vegetables and some raw nuts. And naturally its hard to cover a complete lifestyle in a few sentences. I'm 57 and have TOO MUCH energy at times... vegan with out any stimulates. bayoubro2 Carousel Cheesecakes [cc1] Monday, January 17, 2005 12:20 PM I'm tired what am I doing wrong? Guest guest
At this point I cannot eat many raw veggies. I need to look into certain nuts that do not cause allergies in me. I must be careful with them. Kirsten Tom [tguidry] Monday, January 17, 2005 2:41 PM RE: I'm tired what am I doing wrong? Are you just changing your diet, or are you focusing on your entire lifestyle. Guest guest
I feel like I am eating all the time. I don't want as much at a sitting but I do eat 5-6 times a day right now. Guest guest
I do have an appointment this week for more work. I will ask for a check of those levels too. Guest guest
Actually, I believe that's what our bodies were meant to do - eat smaller amounts 5-6 times a day. It definitely isn't what our society, as a whole does. I eat that way - in fact my husband says that I graze rather than eat. He's right. I feel more comfortable that way and my body actually seems to function better than when I eat three full meals after which my body has to expend much energy to process and digest all of that food at once. I also find that I loose weight and maintain it better eating this way. It's funny, I watch my kids eat and they naturally graze. I have been known to be wrong many times before ) but I know what feels right for my body. I do have an article somewhere that addresses the graze type of eating. If you'd like, when I find it I'll forward it to you. God's Peace, Gayle - Carousel Cheesecakes Monday, January 17, 2005 2:45 PM RE: I'm tired what am I doing wrong? Guest guest
This is excellent advice - always the first line of attack, I think, to make sure there's nothing obvious that can be fixed easily ;=) I thought of possible anemia too - and other stuff also treatable. Ya never know! Good luck and let us know, eh? Guest guest
Kirsten, maybe you could add more dark greens. They give you lots of minerals and also protein. You could try juicing greens. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ from Maida Please sign my petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/738171316
