Guest guest
I am concerned about getting enough calcium. Does anyone know how much a woman in their mid 30's needs to stay healthy? I also have brittle bones which break easily. Should I be taking a supplement? I am taking B-12 and have added a protein powder to meet those requirements. I have elliminated all dairy, meats, and soy products from my diet. I do not eat many salads because I can't digest them too well. At least not yet. I am hoping this diet will help my body to heal and use the nutrients in a raw diet more effectively in the future. Right now I juice losts of raw veggies and of course eat lots of nice soups. Guest guest
Kirsten, According to Dr. Reed Mangels, R.D., Ph.D. " The recommended level of calcium for adults age 19 through 50 years is 1000 milligrams per day. An intake of 1200 milligrams of calcium per day is recommended for those age 51 years and older. " Go to: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/calcium.htm#how for more information on Dr. Mangel's recommendations on calcium. There are also tables she gives on calcium content in a variety of different foods. Also, if you go to www.vrg.org and do a search (click on the word search under the carrots) on the word calcium, you will find many more articles/information about calcium and our diets and bodies. Hope this helps. God's Peace, Gayle

Guest guest
Supplements are ok but it's never the best way to get nutrients. Nutritionists say that if you eat healthy you should not need to take a supplement. Green leafy vegetables are wonderful sources of calcium. This website: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/calcium.htm#table1 should help you to find some non dairy sources of calcium. It does list a lot of soy products but there are many others as well along with how much calcium they provide etc. Jen , " Carousel Cheesecakes " <cc1@m...> wrote: > > I am concerned about getting enough calcium.
