Guest guest
Hey there, this looks great! BUT please be careful of all that cheese for a slimming list - and especially a slimming list that is for *low-fat* recipes, okay? Perhaps a couple of cups of cheese doesn't look like much to you, but it does to me :=( And there's fat and there's fat - saturated fats are not just, er, fattening but also high in cholesterol and all that. So, I'll take this opportunity to remind ALL members: We're after low-fat recipes here - except of course allowing for the occasional special event splurge! LOL Thanks. Best, Pat ;=)
Guest guest
Well, you can certainly cut down the cheese or use low fat cheese. There isn't really any other fat in the dish. I am fully aware of good fats and bad fats and trans fats. I just figured that sharing a good recipe was nice and folks can adjust the cheese to their taste. I agree that 2 cups of cheese is a lot and I wouldn't use that much. Candace

I think that's what most people on this list would do if they saw a recipe like this posted somewhere ;=) There isn't really any other fat in the dish. No. Just a little in the tofu (around 5 or 6 g depending on how firm a tofu you use) and the tortillas (which run around 1 g or less per piece, depending again on which brand you buy). Negligible really, although it all adds up. > I am fully aware of good fats and bad fats and trans fats. But of course! That's just one of those Motherhood statements people like me have to make from time to time, cuz if I don't say it someone will be berating me off list for not making it clear :=( > I just figured that sharing a good recipe was nice and folks can adjust the cheese to their taste. It is - thanks so very much again!!! > I agree that 2 cups of cheese is a lot and I wouldn't use that much. Ahah! 'The truth will out!' LOL But hey, another time - and I'm speaking here to everyone, not just to dear Candace who will think I'm picking on her otherwise! ;=( - rather than giving us the recipe you worked from *before* you changed it to suit your taste, why not this: give the *origin* of the recipe, cuz that's polite and correct and all that, but note that it has been adapted from that. And *then* tell us how YOU make it for a low-fat diet. See? Works! I still think it looks yummy! ;=) Best love, Pat
