Guest guest
I had to get a full panel of bloodwork done last week and my husband is always hounding me that my health problems are related to my vegan way of eating. He is always saying i have become too thin - just not true! Welllll my doc called today, my levels ALL tested normal - i am not deficient in anything, so THERE. I told my dh and he apologized for his lectures about my eating. Doc has ordered an upper GI to take a look at my ulcer but that's not related to how i eat. I am still seeing black spots often though - does anyone know the cause of these? They are not your typical one floatie, they are like seven or eight little black spots that swim in my vision a lot. I thought they were diet related, like because i was deficient in something, but since my levels tested normal, i don't know now! Guest guest
Morgan, I get those floaties from time-to-time too. The ophthalmologist I go to said that they were normal and has to do with aging. BUT, I am 48 years old and not 26 like you are. I would take a trip to an ophthalmologist to have your eyes looked at. Might be nothing in which case you'll have no more worries. If it is anything, better to catch it as soon as possible. There's far too much paranoia about vegetarian and vegan diets - so much so that we sit around congratulating each other when we are *not* ill as a result of them. Tell your husband we'd be glad to have him join this list too! LOL Best love, Pat ;=)
Guest guest
Having worked for an optometrist over the years many things can cause those floaties. If you are in a dusty environment that can be just temporary. Mild eye injuries can also do this. Diet play a huge factor in vision. Lutein is essential good eye health so be sure you eat those fresh tomatoes. Age also plays a role which is why good diet and exercise is so essential. Vitamin B-12 also helps with lubrication of the eye helping clear the eyes sooner. If you have dry eyes look into this. If you have any blood sugar, high blood pressure, or ever had a borderline glaucoma test then be sure to visit your eye care practitioner every year. Other wise every two years. Guest guest
I am a RN and have to have this battle often, then I point out that the American Diabetic Association has even recognized vegetarians, and included them in the diet. Some of the books on diabetic diets have even gone so far as to recommend a soy and vegetarian diet. By the way good job with the doctor. veggiehound <veggiehound wrote: > I had to get a full panel of bloodwork done > last week . . . Welllll my doc called today, my levels > ALL tested normal . . .
