Guest guest
Interesting poll - to me, anyway ;=) Nineteen responses (okay, so it didn't look like the kind of thing that would change the world! LOL), three persons saying they were not on a 'diet' at present AND of the remaining 16, nine said Yes, they were Eating Healthily. which is grrrrreat! Does this suggest that most members here figure that if they eat healthy vegetarian or vegan food they will lose weight without trying a specific diet? And is it working for you? How about those of you who went veggie in order to lose weight (as opposed to those who were already veggie)? - working? Success sstories *most* welcome!!! Btw, I have been doing the 'eating less' thing - and have lost nearly 6 kg (13 lbs, 1 lb less than a stone) since the second week in January. But I've been stuck for a couple of weeks now ;=( Verrry boring. I have another 5 or 6 to go. Best love, Pat ;=)
Guest guest
Hmph. As I work out more, I gain weight/muscle mass. Very frustrating. Especially since everything BUT my belly seems to be tightening up. *sigh* I have found some fabulous recipes lately, tho. *big grin* Great job, Pat!! Keep up the great work. I, for one, always need your inspiration! Enjoy the rest of your weekends, all... Guest guest
Personally speaking... I would have to say that my choice to become vegetarian was initially two fold.. one to lose weight and eat healthier and the other was a moral issue I'd been struggling with for years. Initially, the vegetarian, healthier lifestyle dramatically reduced my weight, my skin is healthier, my nails grow better and overall I feel better, more energy. Personally I don't consider it a diet, but a lifestyle change. I'm not following a particular diet, just eating fresh foods, controling my fat intake, stopped eating anything using white/bleached flour and have drastically cut down the amount of refined sugar in the food choices I make. I drink and cook with only soy milk and use mostly veggie cheese (an occasional cheese as a treat, shredded on a salad). I've eliminated all chips, sweets and soda pop, as well as controled my salt intake. Congratulations Pat on the weight loss!!!... those last 5 lbs are always stubborn, aren't they? Since starting Curves, I will be getting weighed in and measured on a monthly basis, which I prefer, so I don't see so much of that fluctuating that can happen when we weigh ourselves weekly. I've actually gotten rid of my scale at home, as I'm too tempted to hop on it every other day or so, which adds to the frustration when you see yourself leveling off or a pesky pound or two that won't stay gone! Guest guest
Hi Robin! ;=) > Personally speaking... I would have to say that my choice to become > vegetarian was initially two fold.. one to lose weight and eat > healthier and the other was a moral issue I'd been struggling with > for years. It's often so, isn't it? Neither one thing nor the other but both coming together like that! > Personally I don't consider it a diet, but a lifestyle change. Ahah! Now *that's* the mistake I made on those poll questions! I'm showing my age by calling what one eats one's 'diet' LOL >just eating fresh foods, > controling my fat intake, stopped eating anything using > white/bleached flour and have drastically cut down the amount of > refined sugar in the food choices I make. I drink and cook with only > soy milk . . .controled my salt intake. Now if someone came along to your average meat eater and told them to cut out half the things you have done they would be wailing about the strict diet they had been put on. I know - I've had neighbours and friends and yes even relatives who have been told to cut out the white processed foods and refined sugars and cut down on fat and dairy, and you'd think they were being tortured rather than admitting a healthy diet into their lives or lifestyle ;=) Anyway, thanks for straightening that up, Robin. I'll have to be even more careful how I phrase things in future. You would have voted for 'healthy eating' of course, I see that. And it is - verrrry healthy! - for the animals too ;=) Good luck with your sessions at Curves - it sounds like a blast! As for me, that's 5 kg not 5 pounds left to go right now :=( Ah meeeeeee! Best, Pat ;=)
Guest guest
Since I am still new to this I still eat occasionally the refined stuff. It is too much at once to eliminate it all at once for me. I rarely find myself wanting it anymore but if I do I do not want to deny myself. That is the fastest way for me to quit all together. If I know I can have a piece of cheesecake whenever I want it I am less likely to want it. We all want what we cannot have.
