Interesting comment about coffee. I was a 15-a-day

coffee drinker until about one year after becoming a

vegetarian. Then all at once, I could no longer

tolerate any coffee. I still drink green tea and an

occasional Chai Latte without a shot of coffee.

Any particular reason for trying to kick it? They say

a cup or two cups a day of coffee is beneficial rather

than

harmful.

Just a comment - not a recommendation.

Lucky you! I think most of us would agree that 15 cups a day is a little on the

high side, eh?

I'm a one cup in the morning coffee drinker - and sometimes, maybe once or

twice a week, a soy latte in the afternoon if I am out somewhere. Like you, I

like green tea and in the evening I like black tea with lemon. I figure it does

little or no harm, although i do understand those who feel it's best to avoid

all

such stimulants. I'm not that good a person.

Cheers!

Some say yes, some say no, some say it depends on the decaffeinating

process - and for some the jury is still out on the whole health-benefits-of-

green-tea thing. Not helpful, I agree.

Okay, I googled - found lots of advertising sites promoting green tea and

capsules of green tea extract, with or without caffein, to be taken to cure all

our woes. One site you might want to look at:

http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/

Tea_leaves_and_health?OpenDocument

On the subject of decaffeination it says:

" The process of decaffeinating tea may damage the phenolic substances.

Since most studies have researched the effects of caffeinated tea, it can't be

assumed that decaffeinated varieties will offer the same health benefits. "

I personally enjoy tea, green, black, oolong, herbal, hot or iced, with or

without

sweetener or lemon, depending on type. It has less than one-third the caffein

of coffee (for those worried about caffein). If there's a chance it is also good

for

my health, then that's even better.

Best, Pat
