Guest guest
Welcome to the group! One year-old vegetarian - hey, that's a landmark! Good for you :=) Was it very difficult? Did you do it cold, er, tofu, or did you ease into it? Do you feel better for it? Like yourself better for it?? Recipes you want, recipes we have! Check out the Files, and anything we don't have, just ask! There are always people here willing to help - especially a newbie. I look forward to talking to you more. I actually didnt care for meat much ever but the older I get & the more I hear the more grossed out I get. So this will be my 2nd real attempt. My first try wasnt successful because I didnt know what I was doing I wasnt eating right & my body was letting me know by making me passout but I did research this time. I figured if I could quit smoking (im on my 4th year) then I can go veg. Im currently considering cutting out dairy I already cut out milk its the cheese that I love. It wasnt & isnt hard at all its actually been very fun learning new things to cook. I have to say that seitan & Tempeh have really helped & Ive recently started using TVP & yes I did it cold Tofurky I feel some much better. Better physically I dont feel like a big blob & mentally because I love animals & hated to look at one as a piece of dinner. Thanks for having me. Yes, that happened to me too. I'm not sure really whether I originally went veggie because I loved animals or because I didn't like the idea of eating dead ones, you know? It isn't quite the same thing, but the effect is the same - animals lives are saved. > I did research this time. I figured if I could > quit smoking (im on my 4th year) then I can go veg. Milk can be tricky when you eat outside your own home, though :=( > I have to say that seitan & Tempeh have really > helped & Ive recently started using TVP TVP is so handy - I keep dried tvp in granular form (for those er 'ground' recipes) and in chunk form (If you squeeze out the moisture after re-hydrating in a flavoured liquid, however you choose to do it, it can saute up quite nicely to add at the end to stews. > & yes I did it cold > Tofurky Good girl! That's the place I came to very very quickly - perhaps it was the reason all along for me but I was just concentrating on the fact that I didn't *like* to eat me*t without asking myself why that was. Of course, for me, that was a long time ago now and I confess that my memory of my *feelings* at the time are not reliable, since I have in the intervening years acquired SO many reasons for being vegetarian! It doesn't matter. It saves the animals and, as a bonus, it's healthy!!! Yayyyy for you (and a tiny yay for my younger self LOL). > Thanks for having me. Thanks for joining. Guest guest
In response to Vegmin.... I agree, m__t can be rather gross. Who wouldn't prefer the fresh, crispy sensation of a carrot, romaine lettuce or a crunchy cucumber? As well, the refreshing taste of an apple is so uplifting. Simple treats, easy to prepare and with wholesome goodness. Now why don't the marketing companies begin promoting fruit instead of all those awful processed foods.
