What I do is use 2/3 cup of water to 1 cup of rice. Bring the (salted) water to a boil add the rice, bring to a boil again and stir.. Turn it down to simmer immediately and cover for 45 minutes. (don't even think of peeking!) Turn off and keep it covered for another 15 minutes. Then and only then can you lift the lid and fluff with a fork. Guest guest
i do, and it's extremely simple: two parts water (i use distilled) to one part rice (ex.: 1 cup rice to 2 cups water for a serving for 4) combine in a pot together and bring to a boil. as soon as it starts to boil, turn the flame all the way down to simmer and cover. time it at 45 minutes and turn the flame off. let the rice set for 5 minutes and it's ready. this works for electric as well as gas stoves. jaki-terry Marisa Lima <zizalimamarizinha wrote: does anyone know how to cook brown rice without overcooking it and allow non veg to enjoy it as well ?? Guest guest
Marisa asked: does anyone know how to cook brown rice without overcooking it and allow non veg to enjoy it as well ?? I find that using an automatic rice cooker works very well. The one I have has an orange light on while the rice is cooking, and then goes into a keep warm mode with a yellow light after it is done. As long as I get it not too long after it is done, it is just right. from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, http://www.petsincondos.org South Florida Vegetarian Events, http://www.soflavegevents.net
