Guest guest
Can anyone recommend a book on gf baking? I bake a lot but am new to gf baking. The books I have are unreliable and also rely heavily on ingredients I can't use (eggs, dairy, soya). Thanks
Guest guest
Are you using the Hagman books then. Quite honestly, I stopped buying cookbooks and just modify recipes for our use, but I know not everyone can do that. BL
Guest guest
I use Nicolette Dumke's " Allergy Cooking with Ease " a lot, as well as Bette Hagman's cookbooks. I've also used Marjorie Hurt Jones' book, " The Allergy Self-Help Cookbook " and Elisa Meyer's " Feeding Your Allergic Child " - both of these have wheat, dairy, corn and egg-free recipes. Elisa Meyer's also has lots of vinegar-free recipes which we are also dealing with. Hope that helps! Hi Alex, My favorite gluten-free baking cookbook is " The Gluten-Free Kitchen " by Roben Ryberg. It is practical and everything I've tried comes out yummy. It isn't vegan (so it uses eggs and dairy). . .but I make substitutions for those items. One of the easiest substitutions for eggs in baking is Ener-G egg replacer (powder that comes in a box). I substitute dairy milk with nut, rice, or soy milk. Have you checked into the archives for recipes? There are some cake, cookie, bread, cracker, and other recipes there that are all gf, dairy-free, and egg-free. LaDonna
Guest guest
Hi Alex, This is all new to me too, but I found literally mountains of recipes on www.celiac.com I think I must have printed out at least 80 last week. Lots of cake recipies, but you'll have to buy special flour made out of gluten-free foods. Hope you have a natural food store near you with those items.
