Ethical issues and veganism

Hello everyone,

Since I'm still new to the whole vegan thing, there have been a few

issues that are causing some type of inner struggles with me. If I

stop eating animal products then I feel I should stop using animal

products as well...and buy products that have not been tested on

animals. It's all or nothing! :) I have a few questions and

concerns about certain animal products...and how I should approach it.

ANY advice, discussion, ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

The main two concerns I have are leather and wool. Right now I am at

work in my wool suit with my leather belt and leather shoes. I went

to Nordstrom's yesterday and asked about non-leather black dress

shoes. The guy just stared at me like I was crazy. Does anyone know

if it exists and what type of materials I should look into?? As for

the belt, I may just go for suspenders with my suit...I did find a

cloth belt, that's very casual - but at least it's black!

As for wool...I struggle with it. I guess because I grew up with

sheep in our backyard and we would shear the sheep and spin wool. And

I never saw the animals harmed in any way...Were they cold? Maybe.

But it's not like milk that a cow is producing for it's young. For

some reason it doesn't feel the same to me, but at the same time it

doesn't feel quite right. Any ideas?

There are SSOOOOOOOOOOOO many alternatives to leather. One is called pleather,

another is made from hemp seed, and there maybe more.

Two companies that come to my mind (from my limited experience) is Vegan Street

and Pangea.

Go to http://www.veganstore.com/ for Pangea. They have vegan shoes, belts,

sandals, food, cosmetics, candles, personal products, clothings, etc.

Go to http://www.veganstreet.com/ and scroll down to Vegan Street Market (on the

left hand side).

On PETA's website you can find a lot of information on pleather and other animal

friendly products, including clothing.

There is another one that comes to mind, but I can't think of it right off the

bat. I'll e-mail it to you later when I find it in my files.

Also, these website also have A LOT of information on veganism and frequently

asked questions. Most usually donate a % to other vegan/vegetarian causes.

Congratulations on seeing the light!!!!!!!!!! GO VEGAN!!!!!!

For the animals,
