Guest guest
Hello everyone~ I was so happy to find this group here as I contemplate making a change to a 100% vegan lifestyle. By looking at the recent messages, looks like there's a lot more to explore than I thought! I am 36, mom to a 10 yo daughter and married to a military man who is to be deployed on Saturday (Nov 23). I'm very sad that he is going, but I am going to use this time to make big changes in my life. I will not have to cook for hubby (meat and junkfood - loving guy!) and I am VERY excited about that! I want to really dig into these great recipies. I am addicted to Diet Pepsi and coffee (caffeine, really) and am going to try to quit cold turkey beginning on Monday. I have tried to do it gradually but it has not worked for me. I have to do things the hard way I guess ( As far as allergies, I suspect I am allergic to wheat but have not confirmed this. I have bad eczema on my face which I believe is caused by dairy. Dairy also has an awful effect on my sinuses. Anyone on this list on a weight-loss journey? My goal is to lose 60 lbs and I'm hoping and praying that you all will be my witnesses and encouragement. I'll try to be the same for you. There area lot of members here, but do many of you post regularly? Hope to get to know you all better. Guest guest
Hi, I'm relatively new to this group, but I have posted a few times. I must admit to not being 100% vegan, although I haven't cooked any meat for weeks now. I keep picturing the poor little creatures running around in a paddock I have 5 kids aged 12 to 19. My youngest son has an autism spectrum disorder and is on a gluten-free and dairy-free diet for this. Dairy foods have caused him to have eczema on his face, so he has been mostly dairy-free all of his life. Since starting his new diet 8 months ago I found eggs also to aggravate his eczema, so out they went. I have always loved vegetarian cooking, so this group has been wonderful for me. Just one problem, too many great recipes to choose from The kids have adapted really well to our new lifestyle and now much prefer my cooking to junk food (except for my 16 yr old junk-food addicted fuss-pot son who never did like many foods anyway - good thing he likes baked beans, lol). I too, am on a weight loss journey. So far I have lost over 40 lbs and would like to lose a lot more. I find simply by eating mostly fruit and vegetables it is fairly easy. I feel so wonderfuly healthy and have so much more confidence in myself. (I do to stop eating all my recent baking experiments though.) Good luck with your journey, it really is worth the effort. Guest guest
I'm abit confused here. . .and beg your pardon if I used the wrong name. Is this Donna or DAnn? Same person, just different forms of the name? Anyway, WELCOME to VGF!
