Guest guest
As I understand it, Kamut is considered a *gluten* grain. http://www.celiac.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=188 & p_catid= & sid=91hH9H0lN2f9ByT-58103268465.af Deborah > Kamut Breakfast > > 2 cups Kamut (cooked according to package directions) > 1 cup basmati rice > 1/2 cup raisins > 1 teas vanilla > 1 teas cinnamon > sugar to taste > > My son cooked it and just told me he used 1/2 rice milk and 1/2 water to > cook it. Guest guest
From my research Deborah, kamut is allowed but spelt is not. We have used kamut with all out gluten intolerant children for about 5 years now with good success. Guest guest
Deborah and others My apologies and I can only plead the lateness of the hour. For some reason I had a brain blip and had meant to put alternatives to use as well as a disclaimer saying that most people cannot tolerate this ancient grain alternative to wheat but someone how it got lost and when I went to write that out in my previous message, I got dumped off the computer for some reason. I hope I have not mislead anyone. Kamut is not to be used if one is gluten allergic, intolerant or sensitive, but some who are wheat sensitive may tolerate it. On the celiac.com site, both spelt AND kamut are on the " forbidden " list: http://www.celiac.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=185 & p_catid=12 & sid=91hH9H0lN2f9ByT-22103529297.1f Deborah
Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification Brenda! I'd already sent my response to your previous email about this before I got this in my inbox.
