Palo

Alto Welcomes a New Late Night Dining Option

STOA Restaurant and Wine Bar Offers

Organic Vegetarian Cuisine

Palo Alto, Calif., June 2, 2003 — With the opening of STOA, Peninsula residents

and visitors have a new dining venue open nightly until 1 am. The restaurant’s

award-winning chefs create delicious, innovative vegetarian dishes using local,

organic produce and rennet-free cheeses. Located near Highway 101 and San

Antonio Road, STOA Restaurant and Wine Bar is open for lunch, dinner and late

night “bites.”

Co-founder

Yoav Gilat states, “We’re filling a need on the Peninsula by serving great

vegetarian food, beautifully presented, in a relaxing atmosphere that’s open

late. Guests can enjoy a full meal or a glass of wine after working late or

attending the theater.”

Featured

dishes at STOA vary seasonally and may include roasted beet salad with goat

cheese and chives, butternut squash steak with black Chinese “forbidden” rice,

stuffed Portobello mushrooms or handmade spinach ravioli with feta.

The

wine bar at STOA is elegant, yet comfortable. The décor includes lounge-style

couches, rich wood floors and a potbellied stove. Co-manager Ben Maharovsky has

chosen wines “just a little off the beaten path,” all from established vintners

around the world. The wine bar also offers beers from around Europe and a

handful of domestic microbreweries.

About the Chefs

STOA co-founder/chef Meekk and chef Rick Vargas are

recognized throughout the Bay Area and beyond for their skills and continuous

innovation. Among them, they have more than a dozen coveted culinary awards.

The menu at STOA reflects each chef’s specialties and includes Californian,

French/Italian, Mediterranean and Asian/Fusion dishes.
