Guest guest
Dear all, Several of us want to this event last week and had a great time! We will be meeting at 6:15 outside the church where the dinners are served. Give me a call at 408-554-1187 if you'd like to meet for a meal at this event. Or just show up. These go on every Monday -- and are well worth it. Please see the following information for pricing reservation information and directions. Regards, David Pearl-South Bay Veggies Co-Chair 408-554-1187 The Peninsula Macrobiotic Community, sponsor of the Gourmet Vegetarian Dinners served every Monday in Palo Alto, is running a New Friends In June Promotion: the Dinner price for any newcomers will be $10 instead of the usual $13. Also, the $10 price applies to any previous diner responsible for bringing the newcomer(s). This is a great way to introduce new friends to the food, interesting company, and networking of the Monday Dinners. The promotion applies to all five Monday Dinners in June 2003; these are completely vegan dinners which include soup, grain, beans or bean products, vegetables, dessert, and beverage, prepared by expert natural foods Chef Gary Alinder, our Chef since our inception in 1987. Dinner Menus and the PMC Newsletter are available at http://peninsulamacro.org Please be sure to make your Dinner reservations by Monday morning, 9:30 AM; call 650 599-3320. Dinners are served at 6:30 PM, at The First Baptist Church, 305 North California Avenue at Bryant, Palo Alto, 1/4 mile East of Alma and the California Avenue Caltrain Station. Guest guest
Hi all, Just 2 cents on the dinner. I'd gone to the event a number of times and enjoyed the food and community. However, I did find a few problems that kept me from going back event though I'm a vegan living in the area. 1. Dinning style - long tables, food served in order by table 2. Time - if you're table is last, look to eat around 8pm 3. Service - none, you're on your own 4. choice/options - no menu, no special orders, can't leave out stuff for allergies, fat, salt, wheat, etc. While to food is good (some times not as good as others), the lack of service and cafeteria style dinning, " wait for your table to be called " structure got very old. Some nights, if you're the last table to be called up to get in line, have your plates filled, you'd find that it is 8pm before you eat. Yes, the community was nice, but for $13, I'll get a plate at the Millennium in SF and have upscale eating, full service, a menu, options, and a bit of control over my schedule. It is also possible to form communities around restaurants as well. Again, for around the same price, I'd rather have the service, menu and flexibility around time. - chuck On Sunday, June 29, 2003, at 08:52 PM, Dave wrote: > Dear all, > > Several of us want to this event last week and had a great time! > > We will be meeting at 6:15 outside the church where the dinners are > served. > > Give me a call at 408-554-1187 if you'd like to meet for a meal at > this event. Guest guest
Dear Chuck et al, Thanks for the feedback Chuck. I disagree with Chuck's comments,100% and encourage everyone to attend. This is a wonderful group of people coming together in a communal setting -- not a Greens or Millennium experience. See everyone there tonight!! Guest guest
I'm in agreement with Dave. Company was great - Meal was great - People were great. I was out of there by 7:30 pm - having fully eaten my meal in a short time. I encourage people to go in the future.
