When: Sunday (this is a correction from earlier announcement) October 12,

9:00 am carpool

Details : Elkhorn Slough is a fabulous wildlife location. Harbor seals, sea

otters, pelicans and other countless creatures should get very close to us,

closer than we are legally allowed to get to them :). Bring your own kayak

or canoe, or we will rent them from Kayak Connection at $17.50 per person

for a double. No experience necessary. They provide all the equipment.

Kayaking is about 4 hours. We should be back in South Bay by 5pm.

Bring: clothes for paddling that will get wet and still keep you warm. This

means synthetic fibers only, no cotton. sunscreen, sunhat, strong

sunglasses, a change of clothes for coming back home, and plenty of water.

Carpool: at 330 N Mathilda Ave, Apt 506, Sunnyvale, 9:00 AM sharp. We want

to depart right away, so we can get synchronized with the ocean tides for

our trip - move in and out of the Slough with the tides. It is about 1 hr

drive. The entrance to parking is on the South side of Indio Way/Ave in

Sunnyvale. After entering, turn left and go to the end of parking lot. You

can park on the street or in the parking lot in spaces that are not numbered

and not covered (ignore the No - Parking signs as you are my guests). If you

miss the meeting time, go directly to Kayak Connection in Watsonville,

California, just off on the ocean side of Hwy 1.

RSVP to mgalecki.
