Guest guest
Hi Moria, I imagine there are more people eating fish more frequently than getting fillings but I could be wrong. However, that's really not important when you consider that amalgams contain bound mercury that does not leech into the body. The study suggesting it does was riddled with flaws. Newsweek was wrong. 60 Minutes was wrong. And it wouldn't be the first time... See http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mercury.html As for thimerosol... Again, consider the numbers. I honestly couldn't tell you how often people get vaccinated nor could I tell you how often they eat fish but I'm willing to bet that fish consumption, by mass and by frequency, far exceeds vaccination consumption. But this too is a moot point. A quick web search reveals that thimerosol has been removed from the most common vaccinations. Even if it hasn't the research suggests the levels of mercury found in a vaccination are too low to be harmful. See http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vacsafe/concerns/thimerosal/thimerosal-vacs-facts.htm All of this aside, the intent of Clyde's message, as I interpret it, is that as veg*ns, we should strive to have the most accurate information possible about the effects (biological and ecological) of a meat-based diet. It is primarily through education, not scare tactics (and not distracting side arguments), that we can hope to raise the consciousness. Thanks Clyde!
