Hi lesley,

When my kids were small, we couldn't get telly. That gave us so much

time it was unbelievable. We were active from the minute we got up to

bedtime. The people who sold us the house kept really quiet about not

getting a signal but they did us a huge favour. Nobody in our valley

could get it which probably the main reason why we had such a great

community. Him indoors says that if we were raising a family again

he'd go to soemwhere like the Shetlands to recapture the same spirit.

NOt with me he wouldn't - too bloody cold.

Being so active and having draughty cottages with no central heating

we had to eat HUGE amounts of food and were really skinny.

I keep threatening to throw the telly out to try and make more time

but just can't face life without the occasional dose - even though I

don't watch it much. Funny how all the people on soaps never watch

telly though - too bust having lives. After not having telly I hated it

when we finally did get it - it is so slow. Radio you have to do

something else as well and reading is much faster. It took months to

adapt to the slooow tv pace. It was really weird. Unless you've been

without it for a long time I don't think you could possibly apreciate

how mind numbingly slow it is.

if you read that, then sorry, cuz i never meant it like that

wot i read seems like folks are jumping down someone elses throat...

hard to guess emotions on a computer, now ain't it...

now, if only we had view phones like in the jetsons, but, then we'd all have

fake pictures digitally tossed on the screen anyways

Hi Rosanne,

I, too, don't watch any TV or listen to radio. I have incredible amounts of time. I work twelve hour days and still have time for the Internet. And without TV, my mind is incredibly active and clear. Life without telly does make a big difference.

In Health ... Werner.

borage also is suppose to be an anti-inflammatory, helps the adrenal glands, and

Actually, it's a piece of grafitti on a wall in Japan! :-)

Tyketto were a melodic rock band, fronted by Danny Vaughn who used to sing

in Waysted. Waysted had been formed by Pete Way of UFO after they split up

for the 93rd time, and after a very short lived band called FastWay with

" Fast " Eddie Clark of Motorhead fame. UFO were pretty big in the 1970s and

1980s - for a while Michael Schenker was their guitarist. Michael Schenker

also played with the Scorpions for a while, and now plays in MSG (The

Michael Schenker Group). When Michael Schenker left UFO for about the 64th

time, he was replaced by Paul Chapman, who had previously played in a group

called LoneStar. The Drummer in LoneStar was Dixie Lee, who later played in

a group called Wild Horses with Jimmy Bain. Jimmy Bain played in Rainbow,

and is currently in Ronnie Dio's group. Before Rainbow, Ronnie Dio was in

Elf with Mark Nauseef who later played with Thin Lizzy. Another brief member

of Thin Lizzy was Midge Ure, who, aside from Ultravox, also played in a

part-time group called Visage with Barry Adamson and Dave Formula of

Magazine. John McGeoch was also in Magazine before joining Siouxsie & The

Banshees, and in the original line up of the Banshees was a certain Sid

Vicious, who rapidly left the group to form a little known group called the

Sex Pistols.

Does that help!!!???

I used to watch it many years ago. One gets hooked on it

wanting to know what's up with whom. It's been running foe some 40+ years. I haven't seen it in a long time though.

It is still one of the most popular soaps in the US.

I don't think people would watch them if the people in the soaps were watching TV

all day. Then it would be people watching people watch TV watching people watch TV

watching people watch TV watching people watch TV and so on.

Hi Fraggle

> except sid didn't form the pistols..he replaced glenn matlock

Damn - I knew I shouldn't have done that from memory!

> surprised you didn't mention alcatraz er pinkfloyd in there...

Well, I don't know if you're talking about the same Alcatrazz, but there was

a group with that name which Yngwie J. Malmsteen played in - and, of course,

Cozy Powell played with Yngwie and with Rainbow. Didn't one of Pink Floyd

play briefly with PIL? If not, then Syd Barrett came briefly out of hiding

to play in a group called Stars in 1972 with Twink Alder of Pink Fairies.

Larry Wallis of Motorhead also played with Pink Fairies, and Eddie Clarke of

Motorhead played with Pete Way in Fast Way. Hows that?
