Guest guest
Hi Nikki, I was 100% raw for two years, but now I use some cooked items, like a can of no-salt tomato sauce for salad dressing. I also steam a bowl of veggies occasionally. But most days I eat only fruit during the day, then come home and eat my big salad. Tonight I steamed some left over veggies, just to get them out of the fridge. Now I'm to stuffed to even think about more food. By eating no fat and so salt, I found that I can tolerate the extreme heat at work better than my coworkers. I go all day long without a drink of water, and only eat an apply at break and one at lunch .... and one for the way home. But I did eat a quarter of watermelon when I came home ... to make up for some of the sweating I did during work. In health ... Werner. ---- Thursday, August 01, 2002 2:50:44 PM nikki and raw food Re: Re: Hello everyone, I'm new to the list What i've see so far definately looks interesting and worth researchingdon't think I could go 100% raw thoughnikki , EBbrewpunx@c... wrote:> raw food is definately making some strides> nikki, if you look in the archives here, you can find several stories and links i have sent on local raw food events, resturants (like roxannes in marin) etc> of course, they are local fer me..not midwesterns....> but..they are good reads!!!> > cheers> fraggle> "Werner" <mejda6@e...> wrote:> > >Hi Nikki,> >> >check out www.rawfood.com> >> >Rawfood is all about eating food in it's natural state, because lots of the> >nutrients are destroyed by cooking. Guest guest
Morning! I can honestly say since I have become Vegan (about 3 weeks now), I can feel a difference in my self as well. I use to drink a pot and a half of coffee in the am and at least 6 Pepsi's and 2 Mountain Dews during the day. I find I no longer need that caffeine. Or even crave it. I do have a Pepsi with dinner yet. I find the quality of my day has improved as well. I can walk farther, work harder, tend the garden longer and just feel more satisfied. I think raw foods is definately something to look at for the future. Right now tho, I am having a hard time here and there still and just cannot bear the thought of trying to go without Stir-Fry! nikki , " Werner " <mejda6@e...> wrote: > Hi Nikki, > I was 100% raw for two years, but now I use some cooked items, like a can of > no-salt tomato sauce for salad dressing. Guest guest
B " H So (I say in my best Yiddish-Yenta Brooklyn/Queens accent)? Vat's the problem mit stir-fry????? Toss in some tofu, tempeh, soy meat or seitan -- it's great. I even have a practically fat-free version in my cookbook.... (Oh, I get it -- the raw food.... I've been vegan for 13 years -- don't have any intention of going raw. I tried natural hygiene -- you know, the Diamonds' version thereof -- but I hated it. I couldn't handle only eating this with that or only fruit before noon, or only eating fruit by itself, etc. etc. etc. -- besides, as a vegan, it's hard to separate carbs from proteins -- beans and nuts, etc. have both....) Debbie Morning! I can honestly say since I have become Vegan (about 3 weeks now), I can feel a difference in my self as well. Guest guest
Hi Debbie I too tried eating a rawfood diet for seven months but I just gave up in the end! I think its hard enough being vegan without the added stress of eating solely raw vegan food. I like stir frys too! But pasta was the thing I missed the most!!! Guest guest
B " H (Sorry, fraggle, but I like talking about food -- and writing about food -- that's how I managed to write a cooking column in the local food co-op's newsletter -- and then used that column as the basis for my first cookbook -- the second one is recipes using Sunrider products that I hoped to sell the Sunrider users, but that's not gotten too terribly far.... only sold 4 so far :-( -- but I digress....) I too love pasta (but not tomato products) so I developed a couple of tofu based pasta sauces (one of the recipes -- pureed silken tofu and other ingredients ;-) -- I sometimes add spinach or kale to) with lots of raw garlic (it's the best way to eat raw garlic I've ever encountered ;-) Debbie Hi Debbie I too tried eating a rawfood diet for seven months but I just gave up in the end!
