Hi Shari,

I'm in England too and it has been a particularly cold summer!

I had Raynaud's and generally bad circulation when I was younger - people

were always asking if I'd been ill because I was so pale. These days I have

a good colour and circulation. I don't think I'm any colder since being

vegan, but I do get cold even on quite warm days if I stay still for too

long. My workplace has fierce air-conditioning so I'm freezing most of the day!

As for colds, I swear by hot toddies - two capfuls of whisky in a mug, add

juice of half a lemon, 2 tsp sugar, two or 3 cloves, and top up with

boiling water. Not ideal for first thing in the morning but great at

bedtime. Couldn't make any claims for the medical benefits, but it makes

you a lot more cheerful about having a cold :)

Elderflower and lemon tea is very soothing, and anti-viral. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanx... I don't drink whisky though - and I don't like tea (which Fraggle and Jo recommended) - I'm *very* fussy. Not keen on regular orange joice either. A nice hot blackcurrant drink would suit me but the blackcurrant stuff I have at the mo doesn't seem to have much (if any) vit. c in.

Any other suggestions?

(I'm a nightmare when it comes to food and drink, I hate most things and I don't drink any alcohol)

Hi Shari,

the best thing for a cold is a water only fast. No food, only water, until your symptoms subside. After about three days, then drink only fruit juices and later whole fruit. That's what I do if I were to get a cold. I eat only fruit and veggies, so yes, I am cold too in the winter time. I used to be 100% raw foods for two years, but now I include steamed veggies.

In Health ... Werner.

Shari,

There are two things I swear by when I feel a cold coming on.

Echinacea and Green Tea!

Both of these almost never let the cold progress too far with me. And

both are natural.

If you cannot take the taste of Echinacea, I add it to juice in a

small glass and take it as a shot. And the green tea some do not like

to drink alone as well. So I take a 2 cup glass and make my fav tea

of choice with 2 bags fav tea and 1 bag green tea. Works wonders!

If yer tummy hurts, peach tea! Fer some reason it soothes and goes

well with the green tea.

Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!
