Hi, I have some birkenstock sandals too, but sadly don't find them

comfortable. The top strap cuts into my ankle, and the foot bed isn't

shaped for my 'celtic' type feet (where the big toe is not the longest toe

-actually only my little toe is shorter than my big toe!). I bought them by

post and never bothered sending them back.

I wouldn't trust the BK burger to be truly veggie, even if the ingredients

are right there's probably all sorts of cross-contamination going on.

I've never been in a Burger King, and the only time I have been in

MacDonalds is when I needed a loo!

As you say, the only reason they do a veggie burger is to get the custom of

veggies who don't think too much about their food.

I always liked the Body Shop as it used to be the one reliable high street shop in the UK for cruelty-free soap, shampoo, etc. I was so glad of it in my early days as a veggie/vegan. Although she is not vegetarian, I did always hugely admire Anita Roddick for all the many worthwhile causes she has supported, including no animal testing and fair trade with third world countries, I thought she was quite holistic in her ethics and did care for vegans although not one herself. However they have gone downhill since no longer having a list of vegan products in the shop the way they used to do a few years ago, and a few weeks ago I noticed our local Body Shop had a collecting tin for cancer research and it was not one of the non-animal research charities, so I have mixed feelings about this company these days. Maybe I'm just getting more fussy, they are still more ethical than supermarkets, and I shop in those so I'd feel a hypocrite to avoid the Body Shop, however I buy less from them than I used to.

I don't personally want to go into Burger King as such a huge proportion of what they do is meat.

I did have a pair of lorica shoes from Green Shoes and they lasted well, never tried BIrkenstocks.

Hi Lesley

We buy a few items from there still, and as you say, they were one of the first ethical shops.

i will not eat at BK

i do not like fast food resturants, do not approve of the concept behind them...

besides, burger king still does a million bad things, because they have a veggie

burger, does not mean it wipes away all the horrible things they do

i guess its good if you are just learning how to be veggie, and opens folks up

to new things, but, i don't want to eat there

not to mention, its not really vegan, you have to order it w/o the bun, no may,

and have to ask it to be microwaved..

not worth it...

cheers

Ever since I have found out what corporations such as BK and McD's do

and all the tangled webs of lies they spin, I refuse to donate to

their pockets.

Plus, I fear that their meat may leech onto my veggie burger. Who

knows how the food is handled. They probably process it in the same

plants much less who knows what else they have added.

but, that's just me

i think its great the BK have veggie burger

but, i won't go there....

i would rather get my food from a local farmers market, er a resturant that gets

their produce from local farmers.....

ya have to figure..the bun came from wheat from canada, the whey in the bun came

from a million factory farms across the midwest, the pickle and tomato from

mexico, all of that stuff had to be trucked to that BK, etc...

eh..wotever..just my opinion...
