try no to be small minded think big,

Oh just one little beer, just one little cigarette,

just a little bit of egg yolk, just a little bit of dairy...kills

nobody surely... we all lived till now...

Forgivness, I ment for your ignorance !

Indeed- also the organic beers have a tendecy to be vegan as well.

There's a co-op store round the corner from me that stocks their own

brand organic ale which is labeled as being both organic and vegan,

also for a premium bottled ale it's very reasonably priced at £1.59

a bottle (normally quality bottled ales retail at upwrds of £1.79 a

bottle)... and it's only five minutes walk from where i live- and

they do hungarian wines at £2.99 a bottle which is labelled as

vegan, also they often do a 'two for a fiver'offer on the vegan

wine, which is a great 'his & hers' deal as my partner prefers white

whilst I go for red. Unfortunately not organic tho :-(

Tonight however I have mostly been drinking Youngs 'Acclaim', not

organic AFAIK but as it says on the label, 'refreshingly

different'...

is youngs vegan? i ferget

there was new beer from england i saw in the market, and i wanted to buy it,

but, i didn't know if it was vegan er not, and fer the life of me i can't

remember its name now..i think it was a fullers er youngs brand...weird name,

began with a " w " i believe

here in california, to be organic, it couldn't have fish bladder in it, cuz,

well...i don't think there is a market fer organic fish bladder yet....

like i've said, its easier to avoid isinglas here in the states, since it is

soooo rarely used....

If you are staggering home drunk you could fall in the road and get killed by a car, it's dangerous for you, that is one reason not to get drunk but to only have one or two alcoholic drinks, not enough to be pissed, or stay teetotal even, and drink soft drinks only.

Think what the safe level is, and remember it is lower for a woman than for a man.

If we ever wanted to stay out until so well past midnight, and could get a babysitter for 3 kids (impossible since having our third) we would probably not turn into pumpkins, but would most likely have the babysitter taking out a contract on us :( Never mind we will definitely make up for lost time and go out more when the kids are older, but I do really miss a good evening out, even though I was never much of a drinker and avoid smoky places (most pubs). I found I could always have fun while staying sober. I'm not anti-drink but I don't understand why so many people think booze is needed for a good evening out, it's not compulsory you know!

I rarely if ever drink outside my home. I don't like mixing

socially, dislike pubs, hate cinemas and wouldn't be hauled into a

club by wild Fraggles. So the only time I ever go out is to musical

events and I never drink at them. I thoroughly enjoy a couple of

beers of an evening after work, or half a bottle (or so) of wine. I

do get a bit drunk on these, but would hardly say that I stagger.

Sometimes I go over the top and finish the bottle of wine and then I

would definitely have to classify myself as pissed, but what the

hell, I enjoy it, it harms nobody but myself (possibly) and I'm not

answerable to anyone. If I have to drive I don't take so much as a

sniff, ever, full stop.

I know that alcohol can cause dreadful damage to families, but I am

rather of the opinion that if someone is going to get drunk and beat

someone up, they would probably have done the beating anyway sooner

or later.

That sounds pretty responsible, but only if you try to stick within the safe amount, I think it's 14 units a week for women, a pity so many people are not responsible at all with their drinking, I'm pretty sure my attacker and her friend were on the way to and/or from the local pub.

I would like more opportunity to get out, but not to get drunk, it simply does not appeal to me, doesn't feel nice to me at all. I did used to enjoy going out as a group with London Vegans and miss that time in my life, I was always the sociable type, believe it or not, you can be the sober type and still enjoy life, for me almost always abstaining from drink does not equate to not enjoying life, but I don't hate pubs per se, it's just the smoke I hate. I happen to believe there would be plenty of call for a chain of completely smoke-free pubs if someone would take the initiative and start one. They would also attract a better class of person (people like Dr Ian), not the unstable and dangerous types who will punch someone just for saying something they don't agree with. They should not be out in public. And I have certainly never punched anyone in the face for smoking!

I totally agree that drinking and driving is unacceptable.

My favourite outings are metal concerts - and no amount of smoke keeps me

away! I come back reaking of it, right down to my underclothes. But it is

such fun, so exciting. I wouldn't miss it just because of smoke. I like

meeting friends in pubs, even though I don't drink alcohol. The only places

I don't like are clubs, but that's cos the music(?????) drives me crazy.

It's extremely dangerous I know but not as dangerous as coming home rat *rsed on the tube. And cars aren't the only danger either. It's not the alcohol i crave it's the danger ;-)

Sometimes I stay sober but mostly not.
