Guest guest
I usually buy the Gardenburger brand veggie patties for sandwich fillers since I am not a huge fan of the more " burger-tasting-look-alike " flavors of the Bocas... unless I am using them in a recipe or what have you to replace a beef product. But for sandwiches I don't need the patty to taste or look like meat at all, so I like veggie patties because they do not. Anyway, today I tried the MorningStar Farms brand of veggie patty and I must say that they are very good; different than Gardenburger brand, but very good. They had whole pieces of sliced waterchestnuts and sliced black olives. The flavor had an Asian flare that I found interesting. Has anyone else tried them? What did you think? ~ pt ~ Dreams have only one owner at a time. That's why dreamers are lonely. ~ Erma Bombeck
Guest guest
Oh, I've used them for several years now. I really like the breakfast patties and strips. They do resemble a meat taste, so you may not like them. Throw in some of the strips and patties into your papas con juevos. Top it off with cheese and salsa. Make sure you have a muy grande flour tortilla for the bed of the ingredients. Yum. S. , " Feral " <terebinthus> wrote: They had whole pieces of sliced waterchestnuts and > sliced black olives. Guest guest
Oh yeah, I love the bacon strips and the veggie breakfast sausage patties by MSF; even the links are good. I don't mind them tasting like meat...or like I remember meat tasting (been so long I don't know what it did taste like for sure. *lol*) But I like veggie burgers that I serve on a bun to taste more like veggies and less like burger for some reason... go figure. ~ pt ~ He that uses many words for explaining any subject, doth, like the cuttlefish, hide himself for the most part in his own ink. ~ John Ray, naturalist (1627-1705) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , " matrixenos " < matrixenos@h...> wrote: > Oh, I've used them for several years now. Guest guest
I'm not sure if it's MSF or not, however there is an italian patty with tomato and basil that is really good...it's just a perfect hint of flavor withought overpowering a sammich. I bet that would be good chopped in chunks and added to marinara/pasta dishes. PT, I don't know if you have had this problem with the strips. If you are going to fry them, then make sure to keep an eye on them. They will overcook quickly and burn. So for those trying these suckers for the first time, be careful. Just fry them for a couple/few minutes and take them out of the pan. They may not look crunchy while frying, however after a couple of minutes out of the pan, they stiffen up. Guest guest
Morningstar Farms also makes a very good organic line called " Natural Touch " . There are some great " Chick'n " flavors in the frozen patty section- the Roasted Herb is definitely a favorite. They also make a great canned vegetarian chili which is kind of expensive... about 4.50 a can... but is well worth it for a chilly fall night! I've seen the Natural Touch line in most, but not all, health food stores. Guest guest
Yes, I like those pizza burgers. They have lots of bits of mushrooms in them and have a delicous flavor similar to an eggplant parmesan; very nice and subtle. I have never tried adding them to a pasta dish before, but that is a great idea. I agree about those veggie strips; we call'em fakey bacon. My daughter laughs and says, " Mom's don't know its not bacon " Like those beggin' strip ads. *lol* She and I both like them better than any other brand we have tried and prefer them to real bacon any day of the week; and mind you she still eats some meat. We nuke ours on a plate more often than not. They cook up on high in under two minutes. You just can't beat that for a yummy, fast BLT sandwich on the go. ~ PT ~ In romance, as in life, you only learn when you're losing.
