Guest guest
Well when I was a teenager I saw how sausage was made and that ended red meat for me for nearly a year. But this time I was at home making a chicken. There I was washing it off at my sink and I looked at it. I mean really really looked and there were these little white things sticking out of the neck... (Sorry if this is grossing anyone out) anyway it took me a minuite to realize that they were veins. I mean how often do you really examine a chicken... anyway to tie this story up... every time I look at meat of any kind I keep imagining those veins....much easier to give it up than to make myself sick every day, then I saw the pictures of the factory farms on some web sites and well that's pretty well it for me... I don't miss it and frankly I feel better too, healthier... Lori - ~ PT ~ Saturday, October 25, 2003 9:33 AM Re: Nice to be here, another vegetarian amongst Welcome to the list, Lori. I am glad you are enjoying your stay thus far. Those ads are weird for a veggie list! *lol* I have gotten to the point where I don't even see them anymore. If you ever have a question or are looking for a particular recipe idea, feel free to ask. There are alot of very helpful and friendly folks here. Some have been vegetarians for a very long time. Guest guest
I really liked hearing what made you a vegetarian. It brings me to my problem though... after moving to FL in 1197, i started to eat fish in about 1998. I had been vegetarian since '94. Does anyone have a good site or story that i can keep in mind to help me give up fish? I feel like when i'm NOT eating fish all i eat is carbs. Silly i know. Also, i don't eat eggs often, never drink milk but i do love cheese. peace nikki ps... i don't consider myself a vegetarian anymore but everyone that knows me does and i feel it gives vegetarians a " bad name " - Lori Krueger Saturday, October 25, 2003 6:53 PM why I became a vegetarian Well when I was a teenager I saw how sausage was made and that ended red meat for me for nearly a year. Guest guest
well to help you stop eating fish hmmmmmm. I do admit carbs do kind of come with vegi protein but hey thats the way it is. as far as fish goes its still eating dead animals. do you like the taste of death?? lol. I kind of became a vegetarian for a weird reason. I wanted to impress this girl. also a few years back a friend had these bohdi tree beads at this park and he said he was given them by a krishna priest who blessed them and told him, " never let a meat eater touch them ever " well to be a wiseass I grabbed them. that was in 86. in 88 I was dabbling in being a vegetarian. by 89 I was full blown vegi. still lacto ovo though very light on the ovo. so maybe those beads possessed my ass maybe trying to impress that girl did. I dunno but what I do know is the thought of eating dead animal corpses really grosses me out. stay cool, Dave

Guest guest
Thanks for sharing your story. I think many of us have had similar awareness experiences... those moments when we see the flesh of a dead animal for what it is and not as some item of food in a plastic wrapper. Now when I see animal flesh in stores I think it is so disgusting. I watch in amazement sometimes as people stand there pondering over which cut of flesh to buy. How they do it without becoming ill, I just cannot fathom. I typically have to rush past and try not to consider it too much or it ruins me for the day! ~ pt ~ A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book. ~ Irish proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~> , " Lori Krueger " <ripple@q...> wrote: > Well when I was a teenager I saw how sausage was made and that ended red meat for me for nearly a year. Guest guest
Many good points! When I walk past the meat department I think of it as a vast graveyard and the customers as vultures picking over the dead. Feral <terebinthus wrote:Thanks for sharing your story.
