Guest guest
I've gotten tofurky roast the past couple years and liked it, but now I see my whole foods is carrying the " Now and Zen " Unturkey Feast too. The roast is five pounds compared with tofurkey, which is less than a pound. I was just wondering if any of you have tried the unturkey, and how it compares to tofurkey roast. Your feedback is much appreciated.
Guest guest
Wow, you are a lucky duck. I haven't had the opportunity to try either one of those yet. I think if I were fortunate enough to be in your spot, I would try the new thing, but also buy the one you know you already like the taste of as back-up... just in case. I think it is cool there is a larger alternative out there for folks who are serving a larger group of people. If you do happen to try that Now & Zen brand, let us know your thoughts on it in comparison to the Tofurky brand. I have only yet tried the Quorn roast, and I liked it very much. That one isn't vegan though, so if you are vegan don't bother with it; contains egg whites. ~ PT ~ The future is the past returning through another gate. - Arnold H. Guest guest
I haven't tried either of those, but we buy Quorn brand Turkey Roast. It tastes fantastic and has a very good texture. It's made out of fermented fungus and egg whites. Some of their products have over 60% protein. Check out their website if you want more info (Quorn is out of England) http://www.Quorn.com Denise , " dave " <dave4sale> wrote: > I've gotten tofurky roast the past couple years and liked it, but now > I see my whole foods is carrying the " Now and Zen " Unturkey Feast > too. Guest guest
hi my mom has boughten me this stuff at whole foods and its also at wild oats called field roast. I dont know if thats what you're talkin about. now the flavor is very good but its mainly made with wheat seitan protein as opposed to soy so I dont know how good of quality the protein is but I guess it wont deplete your protein to have it one meal or so. good luck stay cool, Dave
Guest guest
i enjoy the taste of the tofurky more, but the now & zen looks tastier, and you do get more " bang " for your buck. the " skin " on the now & zen product is a little too close to reality for some people i know, but it doesn't bother me as long as i know it's not the real deal. this year we're having the now & zen product for a change. i've also just adopted my turkeys from farm sanctuary-- hope you'll all consider doing the same! Guest guest
Oh, yum! I love Field Roast. It's also made from sundried tomatoes. It's excellent as sandwich filling a crusty bread and all the extra's. You can either buy it packaged or some Wild Oat's deli's have it in bulk.
