Guest guest
hello I'm a veggie in el paso tx. also managed to talk my gang-banger-wanna-be son (16) into it 2yrs ago...he's a reluctant convert after losing 67 lbs, lol. I would definitely like some recipes but my lifestyle limits what I can cook. Specifically, I'm in a loft (an old brewery) and I *still* haven't installed a stove so it's strictly hotplate/microwave or toaster oven foods. Also, meals for just one person (the boy doesn't live with me). Oh, and el paso sucks good-foodstuffs-wise so I am limited to TCW deliveries once a month or whatever I can scrape up locally. I'm not real fond of fake meat products because I never liked it enough in the first place to need a substitute. I don't know the list culture yet and I hope I don't piss anybody off (I tend to do that unknowingly) but I " became " a veggie due more to a natural inclination than anything else (but the politics did follow). As a person, I'm kind of a geek/nerd although I don't 'look' like one. Self-employed for about 9 years (technical writer). I'm handy and like to build/make/design things...from carpentry to clothes. I read a lot, don't own a tv, haven't been to a mall since 1983 (other than Sears for tools). Lastly, fitness is a priority for me, long story short, I used to be morbidly obese and I've lost about 175 pounds. I've managed to keep it off, I lost the weight about 22 years ago (I'm 42 now). I'm looking forward to learning a lot. Kathleen Free Pop-Up Blocker - Get it now http://companion./

Wrong " banger-wanna-be " ....shoulda picked the " HEAD-banger-wanna-be " (though more headaches for him, plenty less for you)! ~ > I would definitely like some recipes but my lifestyle > limits what I can cook. How bout a good ole crockpot (some are pretty cheap...$5 at a Target)....take a day to make a big pot of veggie soup, chili or casserole...then container them up, pop them in the fridge and microwave when it's meal time. This is prolly a good time of the year to get one....no fuss during the cold days... just button presses on the sucker. Below is the link to our files section if you are interested. What are some of your favorite foods? Maybe some of us have some quick recipes that won't involve baking and perhaps only contain few ingredients and only a few servings. Guest guest
hi kathleen, welcome to the group. great intro. i grew up veggie in midland (the armpit of hell), texas and can understand that it would be hard to get good foodstuff in west texas. what kind of meals do you like to prepare for yourself? glad to have you here, susie --- KF <fitandcurvy_veggie wrote: > hello > I'm a veggie in el paso tx. Guest guest
hey kathleen, you know, some of the veggie " meats " don't necessarily taste a thing like meat (i.e. roasted veggie burgers) you may want to try some of those if you can find them. otherwise, there's lots of great things you can make with black beans. and good for you for converting your son. I unfortunately hear a lot of stories of vegetarian parents who don't want to raise their kids vegetarian for fear they are " forcing " their views on them. But people do this with religious / political views, as well as making their kids eat brussel sprouts since the dawn of time and no one protests this.
