a no-debate diet for autism/pdd

I've been reading the debate regarding the possibility

of vegetariansim for diabetics and the whole blood

type thing and thought this information would be

enlightening.

I do not know if any of you have family members with

Autism/PDD/Asperger's Syndrome, but the IDEAL diet for

us is vegan. People with autism should *never* drink

milk, eat cheese etc, not due to lactose intolerance,

but due to an inablility to process casein. Lacking

these enzymes means that milk/milk product sugars are

converted into opiates (yes, opiates!) and greatly

contribute to " spaciness " . This also explains why

autistic children are addicted to milk and are known

to drink a gallon of it a day. As someone who used to

do this, I cannot convey to you the uncontrollable

PHYSICAL CRAVING that milk consumption creates. If

your kid is autistic -for their sakes and your own-

get rid of it or keep it out of reach somehow. Ditto

for cheese, any kind of cheese.

There are similar difficulties processing meat

products. With a very big grin, I note that labs that

produce dietary supplements for those with autism, use

ONLY vegetable sources for protein/enzyme supplements.

Sadly tho, no one in the autism community openly

discusses the need of a vegan diet.

That is fascinating! Thank you for sharing this. I know a family where their

son had a lot of problems, and they believed he suffered from autism. That

child was crazy about milk too. They eventually put him on Ritalin (don't get

me started on that). It all makes sense.

My gf has a young male cousin with asperger's and his parents don't

give him dairy, but they still give him meat; in fact, it seems meat

is almost ALL they give him. They are too afraid of a possible dairy

contamination or of carbs making him hyper. It seems that the " no

dairy " part is more widely accepted but the doctors still won't

acknowledge there are the same problems with meat. Perhaps a fear of

getting sued by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association? Maybe

just ignorance. I think it is the very same ignorance that keeps

people from acknowledging a vegan diet is the healthiest diet for

every single one of us. Their flawed logic goes- protein is always

good and meat is the only complete source of protein.
